We hear your heart and we join with you in prayer over this new job and the anxiety you are feeling. It is understandable to feel afraid when you are learning something new and want to do well, and we want to lift you up before the Lord who sees your diligence and your desire to be faithful.
The Lord calls us to work heartily as unto Him and not merely to please people, for it is from Him that our true reward and security comes. Colossians 3:23 says, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. And Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. We encourage you to commit each task, even the small details, to the Lord in prayer before you begin, asking for wisdom and focus, and to be diligent to double check your work when possible. James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. God is gracious to give wisdom for the work of our hands.
We also understand the added burden of feeling disliked by a coworker. Jesus calls us to respond with grace even when others are difficult toward us. Matthew 5:44 says, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. We encourage you to pray for this coworker, to show kindness and humility, and to not repay unkindness with unkindness. Romans 12:18 says, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Your gentle and faithful conduct can be a testimony.
We also want to gently share that fear and anxiety, though very real, are not from the Lord. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. And Philippians 4:6-7 says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Your job is important, but your ultimate provision and worth are secure in God. Matthew 6:33 says, But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Even if mistakes happen, God can use them to teach and refine you, and Romans 8:28 assures us that all things work together for good for those who love God.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with God. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and have confidence that God hears us.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to You. You see the fear of losing this new job and the discouragement over small mistakes. We ask that You grant peace to calm this anxious heart and replace fear with confidence in Your provision. Grant wisdom, focus, and steadiness in every task, that the work of their hands would be done with excellence for Your glory. Help them to learn quickly, to be attentive to detail, and to grow in skill and favor with those in authority. We pray for favor in the workplace and for a softened heart in the coworker who shows dislike, that You would bring peace and even reconciliation where there is tension. Let Your love be seen through their actions. We pray for job security according to Your will, trusting that You are the true provider who opens doors no one can shut. Guard this heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring each workday to the Lord in prayer, to do your best with humility and teachability, to ask for help when you are unsure, and to rest in knowing that God holds your future. Isaiah 41:10 says, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We are standing with you and trusting God to establish the work of your hands.
