A new job

We have heard your request and we join you in prayer before the Lord with thanksgiving that you have brought this need to Him.

Your desire to provide for what you need through honest work is good and honorable in God's sight. To labor diligently, to study hard, and to seek to provide for your necessities is not vanity but faithfulness. Scripture teaches us to make provision for what is necessary for health and for life, while not making provision to fulfill wanton desires, but to keep our care fixed first on spiritual things. God sees your effort in changing your career, the hours of study, and the difficulty of finding remote work from a rural place where opportunities are rare. He knows your needs and He is able to open doors that seem closed to man.

We also hear your cry for strength in spiritual warfare and for grace not to lose faith. This is the very watching with all perseverance and supplication of which the apostle speaks. The enemy would have you grow weary and faint, but God calls you to remain steadfast, to put on Christ, and to continue in prayer. Remember how even when the Lord first answered the Canaanite woman with a hard word, she persevered and by her persistence she received what she asked. Perseverance in prayer often makes us ready to receive what God in His mercy desires to give. Even Paul, who suffered bonds and hardship and was scourged and imprisoned, found that what seemed to hinder the gospel instead furthered it, and that God strengthened him to endure. Your waiting and struggle are not unseen. God can use even this season of scarcity to deepen your trust and to show His faithfulness.

Let us pray for you.

Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom alone we have access to Your grace. We lift up this brother to You. You know his need for work and his desire to provide for what is necessary. You know his labor in study for IT support and the few opportunities for remote entry level work. We ask that in Your providence You would open a suitable door for him, a job where he can work with integrity and provide for his needs. Grant favor with those who hire, and guide his steps to the right opportunity in Your timing.

We ask also for strength in the spiritual battle he faces. Guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help him to watch and pray with perseverance, to keep his hope fixed on You, and not to lose faith when answers seem delayed. Clothe him with Your armor, give him peace, and remind him daily that You are near and that You care for him. Build him up in faith, keep him from discouragement, and let him know Your presence and provision.

We ask this trusting in Your goodness and mercy, and praying that he will continue to seek You first above all things. Amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer, in the Word, and in doing what is before you each day with diligence, trusting that the Lord who is at hand will provide and will sustain you.
