We join with you in prayer over this ongoing difficulty with no hot water for almost a week, and we understand how trying and uncomfortable this is, especially when you were told it would be finished today and it was not.
We know that God cares about even the small details of our daily lives and our comfort, and He calls us to bring every concern to Him. We are reminded in Philippians 4:6, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. This does not mean we enjoy cold showers, but we can still choose patience and thankfulness while we wait, trusting that God is working even in inconveniences. Romans 8:28 reminds us, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you how important this is. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. As Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So we come to God the Father in the name of Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and that through faith in Him we have forgiveness and eternal life. Your present trial, though it may seem small to others, is felt keenly in the daily course of life, and we do not count it a light thing to be without so needful a comfort for nearly a week. To face ice cold water when the body craves warmth is a sharp test of patience, and to have hope deferred when the promise was made for today makes the waiting harder still.
We will bring your request before the Lord and pray that He will incline the hearts and hands of those who labor upon the heating system, that what has been delayed may be finished on the morrow and that hot water may again be supplied to your dwelling. We ask that the Lord in His kindness would grant skill to the workmen and remove every hindrance, so that you may be relieved of this burden.
In the meantime, may you be enabled to wait upon the Lord with that patience which He so loves to teach His people. Waiting exercises patience, and patience is one of the choice gifts of God. You have heard of the patience of Job, who was tried not only in great afflictions but in the daily vexations of the body, and the Lord made his patience a testimony to many. Even so, this present inconvenience may become a means of grace, teaching us to hold this world with a loose hand and to remember how daily we are loaded with benefits by the God of our salvation.
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even when some comfort is for a season withheld. Let us still give thanks for the manifold mercies that remain, for shelter, for water, for health, and for the greater mercy of salvation in Christ, and let us learn to receive both plenty and want with a thankful heart. Waiting upon God breeds peace within the soul, and when a man is at rest within, he cares little for trials without.
