Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for the Shepherd's voice and for wisdom and peace is beautiful, and it reflects the very work of the Holy Spirit in your heart. Scripture says no one can truly say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. The fact that you confess Him as Lord and long to follow Him is evidence that His Spirit is already at work in you, drawing you and teaching you.
The same Spirit who enabled that confession is given to lead you and to teach you. You have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that you may know the things freely given to you by God. He does not teach in the enticing words of human wisdom, but He compares spiritual things with spiritual truth and reveals the Father's plan of redemption and grace to your heart. That is why you can ask with confidence for wisdom. God gives wisdom generously to those who ask in faith, and He rewards those who diligently seek Him.
There are many different gifts and ways God works, but it is the same Spirit who gives them for the good of all. One of those gifts is a word of wisdom, given as the Spirit wills to help the body walk in a worthy way. As you ask to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, you are asking according to His promise. He delights to pour out His Spirit and make His words known to those who listen.
Remember also the difference between the wisdom of this world and the wisdom that comes from above. The wisdom of the world leads to strife and inner turmoil, but the wisdom from above is peaceable and pure. It brings peace to your own heart first, and then enables you to live at peace with others. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. When God leads, His leading agrees with His character. He is not the author of confusion but of peace.
To be led by the Spirit is the mark of being a child of God. When your life is governed by the Spirit, His Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you are His child and His heir. That inward witness brings assurance and life and peace, because the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. You receive this fullness not by trying to earn it through works, but by faith, as you simply open your heart to receive what He freely gives.
So we pray for you now that the Lord will fill you with the knowledge of His will, grant you generous and practical wisdom for each step, and let His peace guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus as you bring your requests to Him with thanksgiving. May He make your path clear, confirm His direction by His Word and by that quiet, steady witness of His Spirit, and lead you out with joy and forth with peace, keeping you from evil and holding you close as one of His own sheep who hears His voice and follows Him.
