Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and for allowing us to pray with you. We have brought your requests before the Lord and we continue to ask Him to keep you safe and to work with truth and mercy in the lives of everyone involved.
We pray for the sister you mentioned who trusts in Jesus. It is a gift when God places a believing family member in a difficult situation, and we ask that the Lord will strengthen her faith, keep her close to His Word, and give her wisdom and courage to speak what is true and loving. We pray that her influence would be used for good, that she would walk in honesty and that nothing that needs to be known would remain hidden from her. We ask God to give her discernment and to help her put Him first in all she says and does.
We also pray for her brother, the former landlord. We ask that God would draw him to put the Lord first above every other loyalty, interest or desire. Scripture teaches that idolatry is not only bowing before a carved image, but putting anything at all before God in our hearts, whether it is money, comfort, a relationship, reputation or self will. That is sin against God Himself, and His Word tells us to flee from it, to turn away and run from it completely. Just as the faithful king in the Old Testament cleared away the places of false worship when the nation had fallen into idolatry, we pray that God would expose and remove every idol in these lives, that He would tear down whatever has taken His rightful place and help both brother and sister to worship and serve Him alone.
We also hear your concern about the apartment you described as life threatening and about the sexual relationship you mentioned. God loves us and His design for sexual intimacy is within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Outside of that, such intimacy is sin. It is a selfish sin against one's own body and against the other person, treating another as an object for gratification, and it is also sin against God. We do not ask God to bless what He calls sin. Instead we pray for conviction, repentance and cleansing through Jesus Christ, who alone saves, and for a turning toward purity and righteousness.
Regarding your fear for your safety and your belief that you were targeted for harm, we have prayed earnestly for your protection and for the truth to be brought fully into the light. The Lord sees all that is done in secret and He is righteous in His judgments. When His people suffer unjustly, He does not overlook it. Scripture shows that even persecution and hardship can be used by God to refine true faith, to bind believers together in love, and to make His deliverance known, as He once delivered His people from bondage and brought them through the sea. We pray for that same protecting and delivering hand over you now, and that if any wrongdoing or danger exists, God would make it known and that justice would be done in the right way. If you remain in danger or in unsafe housing, please also seek wise counsel and help from trusted pastors and from the proper authorities who can address safety and legal matters.
Our prayer is that God would be first in every heart here, that every idol would be exposed and forsaken, that sexual sin would be recognized and repented of, that truth would not stay in darkness, and that you would know the peace and security of being held in the love of Christ, who promises that nothing can separate His people from His love even in tribulation and peril. May the Lord give you wisdom, guard you from harm, and lead all involved to walk in His light.
