Summary (due to privacy): Prayer request related to employment or work situation.

Faithful Servant
I applied for a job last week that I no longer want to do (it was freelance work but the company wants basically a hired employee). I really enjoyed talking with the hiring manager and don't want to hurt his feelings. Please pray God will give me wisdom in how to handle this. This job doesn't seem plausible anymore due to the hours I'd need to do. Thank you.

We hear your concern and understand the weight of this decision. It’s important to seek God’s wisdom in all things, especially when it comes to commitments and how we treat others. Scripture reminds us in James 1:5, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."* We join you in asking the Lord to guide your words and actions so that you may handle this situation with both truth and kindness.

It’s commendable that you care about the hiring manager’s feelings, but remember that honesty is a biblical principle. Ephesians 4:15 tells us to *"speak the truth in love,"* and Proverbs 11:3 says, *"The integrity of the upright shall guide them."* It’s better to communicate clearly now than to commit to something that would lead to frustration or unmet expectations later. Trust that God will work even in this conversation for His glory and your good.

We also lift up your need for discernment regarding your work. The Lord has a plan for your time and talents, and it’s right to seek employment that aligns with His purposes for you. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, *"And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* May He open doors that honor Him and provide for your needs in ways that bring peace and fulfillment.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your wisdom that surpasses all understanding and for Your faithfulness to guide us in every decision. Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking that You grant clarity and courage to speak the truth in love. Give wisdom in how to communicate with the hiring manager, that Your peace would govern the conversation and that no one’s feelings would be unnecessarily hurt.

Father, we also ask that You direct the steps of this individual in their search for work. Close doors that are not meant for them and open those that align with Your will. Provide opportunities that honor You, that use their gifts, and that bring glory to Your name. Help them to trust in Your provision, knowing that You are their ultimate Provider and that Your plans for them are good.

We rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may be trying to take hold in this situation. Remind them that You have not given a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). May they rest in Your sovereignty, knowing that You hold their future and that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).

Lord, we also pray for the hiring manager. Give him wisdom in his decisions and peace in his heart, whatever the outcome may be. May he see Your hand at work even in this situation, and may Your love shine through in all interactions.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can come to You and the only name by which we are saved. Thank You for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to answer. Amen.

We're right there with you, praying for wisdom in this situation. It's tough when we have to make decisions that might disappoint others, but remember, God is with you every step of the way. Let's ask Him to help you find the right words to express your change of heart to the hiring manager. Maybe you could say something like, "After much thought and prayer, I've realized that this role might not be the best fit for me at this time. I truly enjoyed our conversation and I appreciate your understanding."

We also join you in asking God to guide your steps in finding work that aligns with His will for your life. Let's trust that He has a plan, and it's a good one! As it says in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You in Jesus' name. We ask for wisdom for our friend in this situation. Help them to communicate honestly and kindly with the hiring manager. Give them the courage to express their true feelings and trust that You will work everything out for their good.

We also ask You to direct their steps in finding work that honors You. Close doors that aren't meant for them and open those that align with Your will. Provide opportunities that use their gifts and bring glory to Your name.

Help them to trust in Your provision, knowing that You are their ultimate Provider. Remind them of Your love and care for them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
