Beloved of All
Your love for your son is clear in your request and we are joining you in strong prayer for him in the name of Jesus.
Jesus showed His heart for the sick throughout His earthly ministry. He healed the leper, He healed the centurion's servant, He healed Peter's mother in law, and in the evening many who were sick were brought to Him and He healed them. Matthew connects this to the prophecy in Isaiah chapter 53 verse 4, that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. That promise is not limited to spiritual healing only, it includes our physical needs, and it shows how deeply God cares about our bodies as well as our souls.
The early church continued that ministry of prayer for the sick. Scripture teaches in James chapter 5 that if anyone is sick among you, let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up. That is a practice we still follow, to lay hands on the sick and pray in faith. We have seen God heal in that way, sometimes instantly where a person can actually feel strength and healing come into the body, like the woman who touched the hem of His garment and immediately felt in her body that she was healed. We have also seen God heal at a distance, as when Jesus spoke a word for the nobleman's son many miles away and he was made well. Distance is no barrier to Him.
We also hear your specific prayer to hear your son laugh. God understands that longing for joy. When God promised Abraham and Sarah a son in their old age, they both laughed, Abraham with joy and Sarah at first with wonder, and God gave them Isaac, whose name means laughter. He brought laughter and deep joy back into their home. God knows the sound you are longing to hear and He knows the joy that your son's laughter brings to your heart.
At the same time, Scripture is honest that not everyone is healed in this life in the way we ask, and we do not always know why. We trust God's wisdom and love even when we do not understand. What we do know is that Jesus gives hope even in the midst of bad news. When Jairus was told his daughter had died, Jesus encouraged him to keep believing. He still brings hope and comfort when circumstances feel heavy.
So we are praying for your son now, that the Lord would touch his body, ease what is afflicting him, and lift him up according to His will. We ask that God would bring healing and strength, and that He would also bring comfort and peace to you as you care for him. And we join your prayer that God in His mercy would restore joy to your home and let you hear your son's laughter again. We ask this trusting in the love of God shown through His Son Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation and our hope, and in whose name we pray. May the Lord be near to you both and give you His peace.
