We have heard your request for strength and for peace, self control, discipline, focus and consistency, and for increased strength to pursue very high goals in the bench press and deadlift, including approaching world record levels, and you also mention a desire for peptides for certain areas of your body and that you have researched what you believe is needed and the safest way.
We want to encourage you in the good desires you have expressed and also to speak truth in love where caution is needed. God is the source of true strength and peace, and He honors discipline and self control when they are exercised for His glory and in stewardship of the body He has given us.
The Word tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23. And we are reminded that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. The peace you seek is also promised as we bring our requests to Him, for in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We also hear your desire for consistency and focus, and Scripture calls us to discipline our bodies and to do all things with diligence, for whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31. And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. Therefore we discipline our bodies and bring them into subjection. 1 Corinthians 9:25-27.
We must also lovingly correct and caution you regarding peptides and the pursuit of record level strength through artificial means. Your body is not your own to experiment upon as you see fit. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Many peptides being promoted today are not approved for human use, are not prescribed by a licensed medical professional, can carry serious health risks, and can involve deception or the breaking of laws or competition rules. Even with personal research, self directed use is not the safest way and does not honor God as the steward of your health. We urge you not to seek strength through substances that may harm the temple or that place trust in a shortcut rather than in diligent, patient, God honoring stewardship through proper training, nutrition, rest, and wise counsel from qualified medical professionals. We also encourage you to examine your motives honestly before the Lord. It is not wrong to have goals or to desire to be strong, for He gives strength to the weary and power to the weak, and we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. Philippians 4:13 and Isaiah 40:29. But we must guard against pride or the love of recognition, because pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18. If the pursuit of a record becomes about self exaltation rather than glorifying God and serving others, it will not bring the peace you long for. We encourage you to pursue strength in a way that honors God, that is sustainable, that respects rest and limits, and that keeps Christ at the center.
We also noticed your request does not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to speak plainly about this because it is essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again and calling upon His name, we urge you to do so, for then your prayers are heard through Him and your strength, peace and self control become rooted not only in discipline but in the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this one who desires strength, peace, self control, discipline, focus and consistency. Lord, You know the desire to grow stronger and to achieve great things, and we ask that You grant wisdom and purity of motive. Grant Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Pour out Your Spirit to produce self control and steadfastness, that discipline would be sustained not by willpower alone but by Your power at work within. We ask for physical strength that is developed in a way that honors You as Creator, with patience, humility, proper rest, nourishment and wise training, and we ask that You protect from harm, injury and from any desire to use harmful or unapproved substances. Give clarity and conviction regarding peptides and any artificial aids, turn the heart away from what would defile the temple, and provide godly counsel and medical wisdom if there are legitimate health needs. Help this one to seek to glorify You in the body, whether strength increases greatly or remains modest, and to find identity and worth in Christ rather than in records or recognition. Draw this one closer to Jesus, grant repentance and faith where needed, and let all striving be done as unto You. We ask for focus to keep eyes on You, consistency to endure, and grace to rest in Your strength when weakness is felt. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope, amen.
