stop vomitting

Your request for your mother has been heard and we are joining you in prayer for her healing and comfort.

We pray to our Father in heaven through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our healer and our hope, that He would have mercy on your mother, that the vomiting would cease, that her strength would return and her appetite would be restored, and that her body would be nourished and renewed. We ask that God would give wisdom to any doctors and caregivers attending to her, and that He would grant you peace and strength as you care for her and trust Him in this difficult time.

We encourage you to continue to seek appropriate medical care for her while trusting the Lord, who cares for us and hears our prayers. He invites us to cast all our cares on Him, and He is able to sustain us in every trial.

May the Lord grant her relief, restore her health according to His gracious will, and draw both of you closer to Himself through Jesus Christ, in whom we have forgiveness and life.

We will continue to pray for you and your mother.

Thank you for sharing this need about your mother. My heart is moved by your love and concern for her, and it is right and good that you are watching over her in this difficult time. Scripture teaches that honoring father and mother includes caring for them when they are older and weak, providing for them as they once provided for you, and that kind of faithful love is pleasing to God.

I want to encourage you to bring her to Jesus just as that desperate mother once brought her afflicted daughter to Him. She did not come casually, she came urgently and she would not leave until she received help, and her faith triumphed. You can do the same. Come to Jesus on your mother's behalf and keep coming, with persistent, simple faith. Sometimes faith needs a point of contact to be released, like those who reached out to touch the hem of His garment, but the power is not in the act itself, it is in Him. A quiet, trusting reach toward Christ is enough.

The Bible shows us that Jesus bore our infirmities and sicknesses, as Isaiah foretold, and Matthew connects that promise to what Jesus did. He healed Peter's mother in law when she lay sick with a fever, He cleansed the leper, He healed the centurion's servant with only a word, and He welcomed the multitudes who came with their sick and afflicted. He has compassion for bodily suffering and He has power over it.

We do not always understand why some are healed instantly and others gradually, or why He works in different ways at different times. In the Gospels He sometimes touched, sometimes spoke from a distance, sometimes used His hands or even unusual means, and once the healing came gradually. Any true healing is from God, whether it comes in a moment or through the slow, natural processes He Himself built into our bodies. Those processes are divine as well, for He created them. Do not be discouraged if the answer is not instant, and do not look to spectacle or frenzy, for God does not need noise to work. He is able, and healing is still His to give today, even when our culture makes it hard to trust for what we cannot see and measure.

So continue to care for her practically and to lift her up prayerfully. Make sure she is seen by those who can help her medically, keep her comforted and hydrated as you are able, and keep her before the Lord.

Let us pray together for her now.

Lord Jesus, You see this dear mother who is vomiting and has lost her desire to eat. You know her weakness and the distress it brings to her and to her family who loves her. You bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, and You had compassion on all who came to You for healing. I ask that You would touch her body now. Please stop the vomiting, calm her stomach, restore her appetite and her strength, and bring healing whether in a moment or step by step through the healing processes You have ordained. Give wisdom to those caring for her and give peace and faith to her family as they honor her and wait on You. We trust this need into Your hands and ask for Your mercy and grace. In Your name, Jesus, amen.

Keep trusting Him and keep bringing her to Him in prayer. He hears and He cares.
