We hear the deep anguish in your heart, and we come alongside you in prayer, lifting you up before the throne of grace where mercy and help are found in time of need. The weight of carrying others while feeling unseen and unappreciated is heavy, and the pain of a marriage that has been broken for years must feel like a storm raging within you. You are not alone in this struggle, and we stand with you, seeking God’s healing, restoration, and presence in every area of your life.
First, we want to gently remind you that your worth is not defined by the approval or appreciation of others. You are deeply loved by the Father, who sees your tears, hears your cries, and collects every one of them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). He calls you His beloved child, and He longs to comfort you in your distress. The Bible tells us in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." You have been carrying burdens that were never yours to bear alone. It is time to lay them down at the feet of Jesus and allow Him to carry them for you.
Your marriage is a sacred covenant before God, and we grieve with you over the brokenness you’ve endured. However, we must also speak truth in love. Marriage is designed by God to be a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If your marriage is "hanging on by a thunderstorm string," as you describe, we must ask: Are both you and your spouse willing to humble yourselves before God and seek His will for restoration? Have you both sought godly counsel, prayer, and accountability to rebuild what has been broken? Restoration is possible, but it requires repentance, forgiveness, and a commitment to align with God’s design for marriage. If one or both of you are unwilling to fight for the marriage in a way that honors God, the path forward may look different than you hope. We pray for clarity, wisdom, and God’s perfect will to be done in this situation.
We also want to address the cry in your heart for God to "fix it" for you. While we understand the desperation behind those words, we must remind you that God does not always remove our struggles instantly. Instead, He often uses them to draw us closer to Him, to refine our faith, and to teach us to rely on His strength rather than our own. James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." This does not mean your pain is insignificant, far from it. But it does mean that God can use even this season of brokenness to shape you into the person He created you to be.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear sister who is feeling broken, unappreciated, and overwhelmed. Lord, You see her tears, You know her pain, and You collect every one of them. We ask that You would draw near to her in this moment, wrapping Your arms of comfort around her and reminding her that she is deeply loved by You. Father, we pray for her marriage, that You would either restore what has been broken or give her the strength and wisdom to navigate the path ahead. If restoration is Your will, we ask that You soften both of their hearts, bring repentance where it is needed, and rebuild their marriage on the foundation of Your Word. If the marriage cannot be saved in a way that honors You, we pray for healing, closure, and the grace to trust You with the outcome.
Lord, we ask that You would help her to release the burden of trying to make everyone else happy. Show her how to set healthy boundaries, to prioritize her relationship with You, and to find her worth in Your love alone. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and remind her that she does not have to carry these burdens alone. Surround her with godly community, people who will pray for her, encourage her, and walk alongside her in this season.
Father, we also ask that You would reveal any areas of her life where she may be relying on her own strength rather than Yours. Help her to surrender fully to You, trusting that You are working all things together for her good, even when she cannot see it. Strengthen her faith, renew her hope, and fill her with Your joy, even in the midst of the storm.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our burdens on the cross and offers us rest for our souls. Amen.
In this season, we encourage you to seek out a trusted pastor, biblical counselor, or mature Christian friend who can walk with you through this time. You do not have to navigate this alone. The Lord has not abandoned you, and He is working even now to bring beauty from the ashes of your pain. Keep pressing into Him, even when it feels impossible. Psalm 34:18 assures us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not forgotten, and your pain is not in vain. God is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
