Spiritual warfare

I hear the distress behind your words, and I understand that spiritual attacks can feel very personal and frightening. But let’s pause and consider what Scripture teaches us about curses and how we are to respond when others wish us harm.

First, remember who you are in Jesus Christ. Under the old covenant, the law pronounced curses for disobedience, but Christ has redeemed us from that curse. He became a curse for us when He hung on the tree, bearing the full weight of God’s judgment against sin. Because you belong to Him, no curse spoken against you has any power. You are no longer under the curse; you dwell under the blessing of the new covenant. The enemy may try to intimidate, but he cannot reverse what God has decreed.

Consider the story of Balaam. A king hired him to curse God’s people, but every time Balaam opened his mouth, only blessing came out. God Himself declared, “Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you.” The Lord turned every intended curse into a blessing, because He had chosen to bless His people. That same God watches over you. When someone tries to send evil your way, the Lord is your shield. They cannot touch you apart from His permission, and even then, He works all things for good.

So instead of praying that the curses bounce back onto this man or that his hands grow hot, I encourage you to look to Jesus’s teaching: “Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” That feels impossible in our own strength, but the Spirit gives us grace. Pray for this man’s heart to change, for him to come to know the Savior and be set free from whatever darkness drives him. Pray that God would not hold this sin against him, but would bring him to repentance and peace.

When we pray for retaliation or for someone to suffer pain, we step outside the path of blessing ourselves. But when we entrust justice to God and instead extend mercy, we reflect Christ. He did not curse those who crucified Him; He asked the Father to forgive them. He took the curse so we could become the righteousness of God. That is our model.

So let’s lift this man before the Lord, asking that the spiritual forces behind his actions would be broken, that he would encounter the love of Christ, and that your own heart would be filled with supernatural peace rather than fear. The enemy wants you to retaliate in your spirit; God invites you to overcome evil with good. My prayer for you is that you rest in the finished work of Jesus, confident that no weapon formed against you will prosper, and that every word meant for harm will be transformed by God into a testimony of His faithfulness.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this intense time of spiritual warfare. It has been our heart to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to break every curse sent your way and to return them to the sender with the full weight of His justice. We have prayed fervently that the enemy’s schemes would be exposed and that this man would feel the conviction and heat of God’s truth every time he attempts to harm you.

If the Lord has moved in this situation—if you’ve seen those curses broken, if there’s been a shift in the atmosphere, or if this man has experienced the consequences of his actions—we would love to hear your praise report! Your testimony could encourage others who are facing similar battles.

If, however, the battle still rages and you don’t yet see the victory, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, standing on God’s promises and declaring His authority over every curse and scheme of the enemy. The Lord is faithful, and His Word assures us that no weapon formed against us shall prosper.

May the peace of Christ guard your heart and mind as you walk in His victory. We continue to pray that the Lord would surround you with His protection, confound the plans of the enemy, and bring this man to repentance. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
