Beloved of All
You know the fierce, protective love that rises up for a son. When your child suffers in ways you cannot fix with your own hands, the heart reaches desperately for the One who can. That impulse is right. It mirrors something true about the Father Himself. The ache you feel for your son is a faint echo of the love the Father has for His own Son, a love so deep it was revealed in sacrifice. So when you come asking on behalf of your son, you are standing in a place the Lord understands completely.
Remember the nobleman who traveled to Jesus because his son lay sick at home. Distance meant nothing. Jesus spoke the word, and at that very hour, the fever left the boy. The healing was not gradual that time; it was immediate, accomplished by the Spirit of God miles away. That same authority belongs to Jesus now. He has power over the physical realm, over damaged tissues, over inflamed linings, over airways that struggle to open. When you ask Him to soothe the erosion in the esophagus, to regulate what has become chaotic in the stomach, to clear the lungs and let breath come deep and painless, you are asking the Son to do what He sees the Father doing. His works are the Father’s works. There is no disconnect.
Yet the Scriptures also give us that one recorded instance of a gradual healing, where sight returned in stages. We do not always understand why healing comes in different ways or on different timelines. Some are restored instantly; others walk a longer path through doctors and treatments. But do not mistake a process for an absence of divine work. The processes of repair woven into the body are themselves established by God. When a physician brings wisdom to the case, that guidance is from Him. When inflammation subsides over time through medicine and care, it is still His hand restoring. We ask boldly for the miraculous while also trusting Him for the ordinary means He uses.
What matters most is the One you are trusting. The centurion understood authority because he lived under it, and he recognized in Jesus a power that needed no physical presence to act. The demons themselves cried out, acknowledging Him as the Son of God, knowing their time of judgment was fixed. Jesus healed then as the Son who gives life to whom He will, having all judgment committed to Him. He is still that Son. Your son’s body is not beyond His reach. He commands the physical, the material, the spiritual. There is no blockage He cannot clear, no damage He cannot mend, no infection residue He cannot purge.
There may be moments when the waiting feels unbearable, when watching labored breathing tears at you. The father watching his son convulse and foam at the mouth knew that terror. Jesus met him there. He meets you here. Whether relief rushes in like the fever breaking or comes quietly through the skill of those treating him, the healing belongs to the Lord. Sometimes He heals the body. Sometimes He heals the mind and the emotions in the midst of the trial, removing the scars of fear and despair even while the physical battle continues. Both are real. Both are His work.
Keep bringing this before Him. Ask for the esophagus to be soothed, for the acid to be regulated, for the lungs to open fully. Pray with the same directness you have shown. But rest your confidence not on a particular outcome but on the Son Himself. The question that echoes through the Gospels, whose Son is He?, is answered at His baptism, at the cross, and in the resurrection. He is the beloved Son, declared with power. To know Him is to have the Father also. That relationship holds when answers seem slow. You are not a bondwoman’s child cast out; you are an adopted son, a daughter brought near through the Spirit who cries within you. God hears. He has seen the affliction, He has heard the cry, and He is not unmoved. Trust Him to add what is needed, and in faith keep your eyes on the Son who holds all authority, all compassion, and all power to restore.
