Thank you for letting us know about your sister in Christ and her need. We are joining you in prayer for her healing and for strength in the days ahead after this heart surgery.
What a reminder that the heart is so central in Scripture. God has always looked beyond outward things to what is happening within the heart. The prophets spoke of a heart that was uncircumcised even when outward rituals had been performed, and the New Testament picks up that same truth that what matters most is the work God does inside us, a clear conscience before Him and a life that seeks to walk after His Spirit. Outward form without an inward change means little, because God desires truth and purity within. He wants a heart that is turned toward Him with trust and love.
That is why we can come to Him with confidence for your sister. He knows her physical heart that has been so sick and that has now gone through surgery, and He knows her spiritual heart as well. He sees the imagination and thoughts of the heart, and He is the one who changes us from the inside out. When He does His work, it is not only outward but deep within, guarding the heart from which flow the issues of life.
We pray that the Lord will bring healing to her body and that her recovery will continue well. We ask Him to give wisdom to those caring for her, to ease pain, to restore strength, and to grant peace to her and to all who love her. Scripture speaks of the connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body, and how a joyful and trusting heart is like good medicine, while fear and heaviness can wear the body down. We pray for that kind of settled peace for her, a heart that rests in the Lord even while the body is healing.
We also thank God that He has placed this burden for her on your heart. That desire to pray and to carry another believer before the throne is itself something God works within us. He works in us both to desire His will and to do what pleases Him, so that our delight becomes doing His will. When we share one another's burdens with a sincere heart, we reflect His love.
We do not trust in our own hearts, for the heart apart from God can be deceitful, but we put our trust in the Lord who searches the heart and knows our thoughts. We ask Him to search us, to lead us, and to keep our hearts inclined toward His word and away from anything that would harm us. At times He allows painful processes, like a necessary surgery, because the hurt is meant to bring healing.
So we lift your sister to the Lord now. Father, in the name of Jesus we ask for Your healing hand upon her. Touch her physical heart, restore what is weak, and let her body recover fully. Give her a merry and peaceful heart in You, guard her spirit, and let her know Your nearness. Comfort her family and friends who are waiting and praying, and let Your will be done in her life for Your glory. Amen.
