My ### yr old granddaughter is having open heart surgery on ###

Such news pierces the heart, and your shock, your confusion, these are natural. When a wound is hidden until it seems too large to bear, the pain is greater. But remember, the house of God is a spiritual surgery, and the wounds we carry in secret, the blows we receive without warning, He can heal. Do not let this unexpected trial become a fresh wound of resentment toward your son. We know not the burdens another soul carries, nor why they shield us from knowledge. Even our Lord was called deceiver and madman, yet He opened not His mouth in bitterness. Endure this silence not as an insult, but as a mystery you entrust to God.

Cry out, then, but not with the voice alone. Moses, in his great anguish, uttered no sound, yet God said, "Why do you cry to Me?" The heart’s silent shriek He hears more clearly than any trumpet. In the marketplace of your daily life, in the sleepless night, collect your spirit and sing to God without display. Pray without ceasing, and He will attend.

Your granddaughter goes into the hands of physicians, but the Great Physician stands unseen beside her. That child, even in her tender years, carries the easy yoke of Christ. He does not abandon the little ones to the knife or the future. Let your prayer be a constant, inward burning: not for display, not full of many words, but a simple trusting in the Unspeakable Gift. Offer your fear to God as a sacrifice, and do not let the enemy sow despair. For this surgery and the one to come, He is the same Lord. Do what seems right in preparing, but above all, keep your heart lifted in that secret place where only He sees. Give your anxiety to Him, and He will minister to you both, for His burden is light.

What a heavy weight this news has dropped on your heart. Finding out so suddenly, and without the full picture, multiplies the shock into confusion and deep hurt. The mix of feelings is real: worry for your granddaughter, pain from the delayed disclosure, a sense of being left in the dark. Let those raw emotions drive you straight to the One who already carries all of it.

Fear and faith cannot occupy the same space for long. Fear rises up and threatens to direct your reactions, to make you lash out, to spiral, to imagine every worst outcome. But you do not have to let fear steer you. The Lord is near to the broken heart, and right now yours is broken. Pour it out to Him. Be brief and honest; He knows everything you need before you speak a single word. Tell Him your terror, your love for your little granddaughter, your bewilderment over how the news was handled. You don’t need to inform God of the details He already holds; you just need to come as His child.

Remember that prayer is not a technique to get our wishes granted. It begins with a relationship, your Father’s ear is always open to His children’s cry. That relationship is your anchor. Lean into it. The purpose of prayer is to align your heart with His will, which is always good. As you pray for a safe and successful surgery, you are not trying to convince a reluctant God to be kind. You are bringing your request into the light of His love, trusting that His ways are higher than your understanding. The surgery itself is a radical intervention to bring healing, a painful process with a healing purpose. The hands of the surgeons are instruments, but the ultimate outcome rests in God’s care.

Your son’s silence stings, and you may not understand his reasons now. But other hearts are known fully only to the Lord. He sees what you cannot see. Resist the temptation to let that hurt fester into bitterness. The enemy would love to use fear and offense to isolate you and rob you of peace. Instead, set a watch by placing that relationship also into God’s hands. You can only control your own response, and God looks at the heart. He sees your desire for your granddaughter’s full, healthy life, and He credits that heart-desire even when you feel helpless.

So refuse to let worry consume you. Worry is a futile exercise, it cannot add a single hour to her life or change one detail of the surgery. Tomorrow’s needs will arrive on their own; today’s assignment is to trust. Place her tiny heart into the hands of the Great Physician who formed it. Ask for His will to be done, for wisdom for the medical team, and for a complication-free procedure and recovery. And while you pray, also ask God to create in you a clean heart, one free from fear, free from resentment, and full of faith. He is near, and He will carry you both.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the heavy burden you’re carrying for your precious granddaughter and your son. These past days have surely been filled with prayer, anxiety, and unanswered questions, and we have lifted each one of them to the Lord on your behalf. We asked Him to steady the hands of the surgeons, to calm the fears of your granddaughter’s little heart, to soften your son’s heart toward openness, and to draw your whole family closer to His own heart through this trial.

If the surgery has already taken place and your granddaughter is now resting in God’s care, will you share a praise report so we can celebrate with you? If the surgery is still ahead, we will continue to stand with you, asking the Great Physician to guide every decision, every incision, and every breath.

If the answers you hoped for have not yet come—if the outcome is uncertain or if your heart still aches with unspoken worries—please post your request again so we can keep interceding. We will not grow weary in praying for healing, wisdom, family reconciliation, and peace that surpasses understanding.

May the Lord bless you with His nearness in these days. May He remind you that He holds your granddaughter’s life in His hands, and may He give you strength to trust Him even when the path is unclear. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus.

The shock that has seized your soul is but the echo of a deeper truth, you have been kept from this knowledge, even as many are kept from the knowledge of their own peril before God. Yet now the veil is torn, and you see the frailty of that dear child's frame. Do not let this sudden revelation drive you to bitterness against your son, for what is hidden in the human heart often springs from fear, from a misguided desire to shield, or from that dimness of sight which afflicts us all until grace illuminates the eyes. The Lord permits such unveilings to drive us to our knees, not to festering resentment. Your horror and confusion are the natural cry of a loving soul, but they must be lifted higher, lifted to the One who planted the ear and surely hears, whose heart is the measure of all goodness and the source of all healing.

Consider this: the heart of your little grandchild is malformed, needing the surgeon's knife. So is every human heart spiritually malformed, desperately sick, who can know it? The outward operation mirrors the inward necessity. As the surgeons will labor over her physical heart, so the Great Physician would write His law upon the inner heart, making it a heart that loves holiness, that beats for righteousness. You ask for a full, healthy life for her, and this is right to desire, but the fullest health is that which receives Jesus Christ, Prophet, Priest, and King, into the very center of the being. Do not be like those who have eyes to see the things of this world but are blind to the hand of God who fills all things. See in this dark hour the Lord's own summons. He would have you open the door of your heart wide to Him, that He might enter and rule there, and then you may with boldness commit this little one into His keeping.

And what of your son's silence? The human heart is a labyrinth of
