Disciple of Prayer
My son just disclosed ### is having a 4 hr open heart surgery this coming Monday. Apparently she’s been going to. Cardiologist everyb6 months since birth and I’m only finding this out a few days ago. I am shocked, upset, confused, horrified and worried sick. How could my son never share this with me. He lives in ### and me in ###. We talk almost every other Sundays. And I visit once a year. Pls pray for a safe and well performed heart surgery. He will not even give me her diagnosis. Which is beyond my comprehension. Pls help and guide her to a full healthy life. She will again need heart surgery when age gets older as well.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your granddaughter in earnest prayer as she faces this critical surgery. The shock, confusion, and deep concern you feel are understandable, and we stand with you in this difficult time, seeking God’s peace, wisdom, and healing hand. The Lord sees your granddaughter’s needs and knows the depths of her condition, even when details are withheld from you. We trust that He is already at work in her life, guiding the hands of the surgeons and holding her close in His care.

First, we must address the pain of feeling excluded from such a significant part of your granddaughter’s life. It is natural to feel hurt and bewildered that your son did not share this with you sooner. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 15:22, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." While it is possible your son had reasons for his silence, perhaps fear, protectiveness, or even his own struggle to process the situation, it is important to bring this before the Lord. We pray for open hearts and restored communication between you and your son, that God would soften any hardness and replace it with understanding and trust.

We also lift up your granddaughter’s surgery in faith, knowing that the Lord is the Great Physician. Psalm 139:13-14 declares, "For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Even in the midst of medical uncertainty, we trust that God’s design for her life is purposeful and that He holds her future. We pray for the surgical team, that their hands would be steady, their minds sharp, and their decisions guided by divine wisdom. May the Lord grant them clarity and skill as they work to repair her heart.

Father God, we ask for complete healing for this precious child. We declare Your promise in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We pray that this surgery would be successful, that her recovery would be swift, and that her heart would grow stronger with each passing day. We also ask that You prepare her for future surgeries, should they be needed, and that You would grant her parents wisdom and strength to walk this journey with faith and courage.

We must also lift up your son and his family, asking the Lord to draw them closer to Himself during this trial. It is only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that we find true peace, hope, and salvation. Acts 4:12 reminds us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If they do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we pray that this season would open their hearts to the gospel. May they turn to Him for comfort, strength, and eternal life.

Lord, we ask that You would fill this family with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Ease their fears, calm their anxieties, and remind them that You are in control. We pray for unity among them, that love and trust would replace any feelings of isolation or misunderstanding. Give them the grace to extend forgiveness where it is needed and the humility to seek reconciliation.

We also pray for you, dear one, as you navigate this painful revelation. It is difficult to bear the weight of worry from afar, and we ask that the Lord would sustain you with His presence. May He remind you of His faithfulness in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Lean on Him, and allow His strength to carry you through this trial.

Finally, we declare that this child is covered by the blood of Jesus, and we speak life, healing, and restoration over her. We rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or despair that would seek to steal hope from this family, and we command it to flee in the name of Jesus. We stand on the truth of God’s Word, believing that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

Heavenly Father, we commit this precious granddaughter into Your loving hands. Guide the surgeons, comfort her parents, and grant this family Your peace that passes all understanding. Heal her heart, restore her strength, and draw each member of this family closer to You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We’re so sorry, finding out like this, just days before something so serious, would shake anyone. The shock, the confusion about why it was kept from you, the fear for your granddaughter’s surgery, all of that matters, and we’re sitting with you in it right now. When a serious illness hits a family, it often disrupts more than just health; it can scramble communication and leave even close loved ones feeling unexpectedly distant, as the source material on chronic illness reminds us. That doesn’t erase the hurt, but it may help you see your son’s silence through a slightly gentler lens. Right now, the most urgent thing is Monday’s surgery, and that’s where you can anchor your heart. We’re praying with you for every hand in that operating room, for steady skill, clear judgment, and a procedure that goes exactly as planned, with no surprises. Afterward, when the dust settles, you may find a quiet moment to tell your son simply, “I wish I’d known sooner, but I’m here now, and I love you both.” No interrogation, just presence. That often opens a door more than pressing for details ever could.

Father, we lift up this precious granddaughter to You. Guide the surgeon’s hands and the whole team. Guard her heart in every way that matters. Give this grandmother Your peace that doesn’t depend on having all the answers, and sustain her as she loves her son and granddaughter from afar. In Jesus’ name.

Heavenly Father God and Lord Yeshua and Holy Spirit does love us. And care for the needy. As we continue in prayer and fsith in him may there be good outcomes. With love. In Lord Yeshuas name amen.

The shock that has seized your soul is but the echo of a deeper truth, you have been kept from this knowledge, even as many are kept from the knowledge of their own peril before God. Yet now the veil is torn, and you see the frailty of that dear child's frame. Do not let this sudden revelation drive you to bitterness against your son, for what is hidden in the human heart often springs from fear, from a misguided desire to shield, or from that dimness of sight which afflicts us all until grace illuminates the eyes. The Lord permits such unveilings to drive us to our knees, not to festering resentment. Your horror and confusion are the natural cry of a loving soul, but they must be lifted higher, lifted to the One who planted the ear and surely hears, whose heart is the measure of all goodness and the source of all healing.

Consider this: the heart of your little grandchild is malformed, needing the surgeon's knife. So is every human heart spiritually malformed, desperately sick, who can know it? The outward operation mirrors the inward necessity. As the surgeons will labor over her physical heart, so the Great Physician would write His law upon the inner heart, making it a heart that loves holiness, that beats for righteousness. You ask for a full, healthy life for her, and this is right to desire, but the fullest health is that which receives Jesus Christ, Prophet, Priest, and King, into the very center of the being. Do not be like those who have eyes to see the things of this world but are blind to the hand of God who fills all things. See in this dark hour the Lord's own summons. He would have you open the door of your heart wide to Him, that He might enter and rule there, and then you may with boldness commit this little one into His keeping.

And what of your son's silence? The human heart is a labyrinth of complexities. He has carried this burden, perhaps wrongly in his secrecy, yet he has carried it. Now is not the time for reproaches. Now is the time for that love which covers a multitude of sins. The law of God written in the heart makes us to delight in forbearance and forgiveness. Pray that the Lord would write His reconciling truth upon your son's heart as well, that the barrier between you would dissolve not through angry words, but through the melting power of Divine Grace. God's own heart is the reason for His goodness; He blesses not because we are worthy or because we perfectly understand one another, but according to His own infinite affection. Let that be your pattern. Pour out your anguish before Him who hears, but let it be mingled with compassion for the son who also trembles for his daughter.

The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, the very least things about Christ are charged with restorative power. A single word of His promise, applied by the Holy Spirit, can bring peace to a troubled heart and, we believe, can stretch forth a sovereign hand over a surgical theatre. Cry to Him who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. He that planted the ear hears before you speak; He that formed the heart knows its every valve and vessel. Commit her to the hands of the Great Surgeon, and commit your own breaking heart to the God whose goodness is measured not by your faltering comprehension, but by His own boundless heart. Do not ask according to the shriveled measure of your poor, cold fears, but according to His infinite love. He will do great things, according to His own heart.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
