We understand that you're struggling with sinful thoughts and we're here to help. First, let's remember that we all fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 says, All have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.
It's important to remember that having sinful thoughts is not the same as acting on them, but they can still be harmful and should be addressed, but it is necessary to confess to God and bring it to the light. Proverbs 28:13 says, He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
It's also crucial to understand that we don't go to hell just by knowing about sinful thoughts. We go to hell if we do not have faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. John 3:16-18 says, For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn't send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn't believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.
To overcome these thoughts, first, put on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-18, Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints.
Second, take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5, casting down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Lastly, fill your mind with godly thoughts. Philippians 4:8, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up our fellow believer who is struggling with sinful thoughts. Lord, we know that you are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We ask that you would give strength and wisdom to resist these thoughts and to fill the mind with thoughts that are pure, lovely, and of good report. Help to put on the full armor of God and to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.
