The scripture you referenced is powerful: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5 WEB). However, we must gently address the frustration and bitterness that seems to linger in your words. The repeated references to "this " and the mention of another person acting "with a vengeance" suggest there may still be unresolved pain or even judgment in your heart. Scripture warns us, "Judge not, that you be not judged" (Matthew 7:1 WEB), and while it is natural to feel hurt, we must surrender those feelings to the Lord. Holding onto them will only delay the healing you seek.

We also encourage you to bring this pain to Jesus in prayer, not just the physical ailment but the emotional wounds as well. He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18 WEB), and He longs to bind up your wounds (Psalm 147:3 WEB). If there is a need for reconciliation with this person, we pray for wisdom and courage to take steps toward peace, if possible. If not, we pray for the strength to release them fully into God’s hands.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Great Physician. We thank You for the promise of healing through the stripes of Your Son. Lord, we lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would touch their body, mind, and spirit with Your healing power. Where there is pain, bring comfort. Where there is weakness, bring strength. Where there is brokenness, bring restoration.

Father, we confess any lingering unforgiveness, bitterness, or judgment in our hearts. Cleanse us, Lord, and help us to release these burdens to You. Fill us with Your peace and Your love, that we may walk in the freedom Christ died to give us. We choose to forgive as You have forgiven us, and we ask that You would heal every wound, seen and unseen.

Lord, we stand on Your Word, believing that by Your stripes, we are healed. We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB) and that You are working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28 WEB). Strengthen our faith, Lord, and help us to trust You even when we do not see immediate results.

We also pray for wisdom in how to care for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB). Guide this one to the right medical care, godly counsel, and lifestyle choices that honor You. Above all, draw them closer to You through this trial, that they may know You more deeply and walk in the fullness of life You offer.

Your cry rises up from a shoulder that aches with a vengeance, and you plead the promise, “By his stripes I am healed.” Yet the healing tarries, and the pain remains. Remember, the man sick of the palsy lay before Jesus expecting forgiveness and healing both, and the Lord first dealt with the root, saying, “Thy sins are forgiven thee,” before He commanded, “Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.” Not that every sickness stems from some specific sin you now harbor, but the heart is deceitful above all things, and many a believer has found, upon deeper searching, a seed of resentment or self-reliance hid even from their own eyes. You say you hold no anger or unforgiveness; that is well, and I would not speak against your honest testimony. Yet I bid you, in the quiet of your prayer-chamber, spread your whole soul before the Searcher of hearts. Ask Him to try your reins, lest some root of bitterness, perhaps against the very person you mention, whom you will not judge, be lurking and binding the healing leaves from the Tree of Life.

Do not think prayer is a fancy because the answer lingers. The very prayer that staggers and seems without sense, when a man is at his wit’s end, is a prevailing prayer with our tender Father. That shoulder of yours may be a millstone now, but cast it upon Him, He has shoulders broad enough to bear it. The power to heal is not always present in the same measure; our Lord withdrew into the wilderness and prayed, and then the power was present. Imitate Him: wrestle in private devotions with the arguments of His own promises. Tell Him you are helpless, that your hope is in His stripes alone, and that you will not let Him go except He bless you. And mark this: sometimes the healing is delayed as a chastisement for a sin long forgotten, or as an admonition to wean you from some earthly trust. Even the best prayers may be mingled with our own fancy; strip your request naked of all imagined merit, and sink low before the Throne.

As for the soul you allude to, that unfinished whisper of a person in this trial, leave it with the Lord. He does not ask you to judge her; He asks you to forgive as you have been forgiven. And if that very forgiveness is harder than you know, then the forgiveness of Christ is all the more needed for you first. Oh, when the burden rolls away and the healing falls like dew from heaven, you will know that every leaf of that Tree Truly is for the healing of the nations, and of your own aching frame. Until then, cry still, both in the daytime and at night, for the Lord will yet hear you. Healing and pardon are one in the Sun of Righteousness; He will arise with healing in His wings, and you shall go to your house rejoicing.

You speak of a shoulder that acts with vengeance, and a woman you will not judge yet whose presence stirs something in your words. Pain has a way of sharpening the soul, but it can also become a whetstone for resentment if we are not watchful. Affliction is a great good, as I have often said. It is better to go into the house of mourning than the house of laughter, and the soul that is afflicted learns what ease never teaches. When the body rebels, do not only cry for deliverance; ask also what strength this trial might build in you.

You declare that you hold no sin of anger or unforgiveness. It is good to examine the heart. Yet I would have you consider: love is not easily provoked, and when we speak of another’s vengeance, even to disclaim judgment, we must be certain no root of bitterness springs up unseen. Like a spark falling into the deep, a long-suffering soul quenches the injury rather than letting it disturb. If you truly have no resentment, then pray for her as for yourself, not merely saying you do not judge, but actively blessing. It rests with us either to profit or to be injured by afflictions, not by their nature but by the disposition of our minds. Job suffered monstrously, yet he did not sin with his lips; his patience was his crown.

You say, “by His stripes I am healed.” Hold fast to that, but know that healing may come through the narrow way, not always by the removal of pain, but by the sanctifying of it. God permits afflictions to train us, as a schoolmaster. The flesh complains, the shoulder aches, but the spirit can rejoice with joy of the Holy Ghost, as the apostles did when counted worthy to suffer dishonor. Do not sink in your affliction. Give thanks in all things. If you bear it patiently, if you pray for those who trouble you, you do it for Christ. That is the healing that outlasts the body: a soul made steadfast, hoping in God and not put to shame. Let your prayer be not only “heal me,” but “let me glorify You whether by ease or by pain.” And as you pray for your own shoulder, might I urge you to pray also for her, that God would open the ears of her heart? Such intercession is the surest medicine for any hidden wound of the soul.
