Silas
Beloved of All
Your longing to have a child is deeply understood and your disappointment after those negative tests is real. The desire for children is placed in the heart by God Himself, for Scripture says children are a gift from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward. He is the one who opens the womb, and in His wisdom He also at times withholds for a season, as we see with Sarah, with Rachel and Leah, and with Hannah. He hears the cries of those who long for a child.
There is a common struggle we all face in wanting to help God bring about what we desire. Like Jacob and his family, we can become anxious and try to make things happen in our own strength and timing. That striving in the flesh only leads to frustration and weariness, because we cannot produce by our own effort what only God can give. What brings peace is not trying harder, but coming to the end of our own striving and resting in Him. When we bring our emptiness to Jesus and say, who will help me, He answers. The victory and the comfort do not come from our ability to control outcomes, but from trusting the One who causes us to triumph through Christ and giving all glory to Him.
God is sovereign over conception. He showed Jacob in a dream when and how the flocks would conceive, and He is just as sovereign over your body and your future. He knows your desire for your cycle not to come and for life to begin, and He also knows what is best and when it is best. You can bring this desire to Him honestly without trying to force His hand, asking Him to do what is good and right according to His perfect will.
I will pray for you now. Father in heaven, I lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ, the only Savior through whom we have access to You. You see her longing and her tears. I ask that You would grant her Your peace that passes understanding and guard her heart from despair. Help her to rest in Your love and Your timing, and to trust You more than any test result or calendar date. If it is Your will, open her womb and grant the gift of a child in Your time. Above all, draw her close to Jesus, cleanse and guide her life, and establish her in Your design for marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, where intimacy and the blessing of children belong. Give her wisdom to seek godly counsel and good medical care as needed, and help her to find her hope and identity in Christ, whether the answer is yes, wait, or another path You have for her. Let Your will be done and let her be comforted by Your presence. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, and share your burden with a trusted pastor who can walk with you personally and encourage you in faith and in living according to His Word.
