Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we stand with you in Jesus name before the Father.

We are deeply encouraged by the humility in your heart, that you do not boast and you do not look down on those who have fallen short, but acknowledge that education and position do not make anyone righteous. For it is written, all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23, and there is none righteous on our own. Your broken and contrite heart is exactly what God desires, as you quoted, You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You are not pleased with burnt offering. My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise, Psalm 51:16-17.

We agree with you that only Jesus can set them free. Jesus said, You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free, John 8:32, and He Himself is the way, the truth, and the life, John 14:6. No lawyer, no education, no legal argument can give what only Christ can give, which is a new heart. God promises, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you, Ezekiel 36:26. And we know God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:4, so we can pray with confidence for the salvation of the team you mentioned, their lawyers and legal representatives.

We also hear your grief over the disregard for human life and honest communication. The Lord sees this and He calls us to hunger for what is right. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, Matthew 5:6. And we are called to pray even for those who may oppose what is right, for Jesus said to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44. Your prayer for forgiveness over them and that they would hate their sin and turn from it reflects the heart of God who is compassionate and merciful.

We thank God with you that we have help in this relentless prayer, for the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered, Romans 8:26. We do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up, Galatians 6:9, and Jesus taught us that men ought always to pray, and not to faint, Luke 18:1.

So together we pray, Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up the team and every lawyer and representative bound in lies and we ask that You shine Your light into darkness and expose every lie of Satan. Save those who do not yet know You and draw them to repentance. Cover those who are Yours and who are chosen in Christ with the precious blood of Jesus, give them peace that passes understanding and wisdom from above. Create in all of them a broken and contrite heart that hates sin and turns from evil, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness that only You can satisfy. Teach them to be righteous and compassionate and to do what is right in Your eyes, to honor human life and to speak honestly. Let Your will be done in this situation and let Your name be exalted. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We notice how earnestly you have been interceding for this team and their lawyers, asking God to soften hearts that seem hardened to truth. It makes sense that this weighs on you, especially when those with education and influence still choose what is wrong. That disappointment can leave a deep ache.

Your prayer already reflects a humble posture, not wanting to look down on them but wanting God to do a work only He can do. Holding both a love for truth and a willingness to release the outcome to Him is not easy. Deciding to want good for those who have hurt others, and to leave judgment and justice in God's hands, is one thing. The lingering feelings of grief or anger that come and go afterward are another, and they often take longer to settle. Give yourself grace in that process.

One steady practice that helps many who carry this kind of burden is to set a defined time to pray as you have been doing, and then consciously entrust the people and the situation to the Lord for the rest of the day, returning to your own duties with peace.

Father in Jesus name we lift this team, their lawyers and all involved to You. Work in each heart to love truth and to turn from what is evil, cover those who are Yours with peace and understanding, and guard our friend from bitterness as they keep seeking You. Let Your will be done, amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is a right and holy prayer, and it is according to the mind of God. For the Lord has said, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, and that hunger is itself His gift.

You have done well to ask not for vengeance but for mercy, not that God would merely restrain the hand of sinners but that He would change their hearts. For what is needed is not a short lived repentance which turns from sin for a season and then returns to it with greater gusto, but that true repentance which is the work of the Spirit of God. Such repentance gives glory to the omniscience of God, confessing that He sees all, and gives glory to the righteousness of His law, saying with the penitent, Thy law is holy and just and good, the fault is with me, for I am carnal, sold under sin.

You quoted aright that psalm of David, that God delighteth not in outward sacrifice but in a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart. This is the repentance we must seek for these souls of whom you speak, and for ourselves also. Repentance, as we have often said, is to leave the sins we loved before and show that we in earnest grieve by doing so no more. It is a complete change of mind with regard to sin, an honest determination by God's grace to cease from sin, joined with faith in Him who was set forth to be a propitiation for sin.

Do not despair though they be learned in the law and yet fall short of the glory of God. For so it is with all men, educated or unlearned, that all have sinned. The wisdom of this world cannot make a man righteous, and knowledge of statutes cannot cleanse the heart. Only the precious blood of Jesus Christ can do that, shed not for the righteous but for sinners, not for those who boast but for those who confess their need. There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, and there is no true thirst for righteousness apart from Him who is Himself our righteousness.

Therefore let us pray together that the Lord in His goodness would lead them to repentance. For His goodness is meant to lead men to repentance, that they might turn and live. May He stir their hearts indeed, that they may come to hate the sin they once loved, to love truth and to speak it plainly, to regard human life as precious in His sight, and to walk in compassion and honesty. May He cover with His mercy those who are His chosen and give them peace and understanding in the midst of trial, and may He grant to those yet outside that they may look to Jesus and live, for to look to Him is to find repentance and remission of sins.

Continue to intercede, and remember that practical repentance will yield works meet for repentance and will last, not for a day but for a life, because it is rooted in love to Him who died for us. Ask the Lord to increase your own faith and repentance also, that you may choose righteousness though there were no reward for it, simply because it is right and because Christ is worthy.

May the Lord hear your cry, create in them and in us clean hearts, and satisfy that unquenchable thirst with Himself, who is the fountain of living waters. Let His will be done, and let His name be exalted on high through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
