Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we are encouraged by your intercession for those who have opposed you. You have rightly remembered that it is written, You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free, John 8:32, and that Jesus Himself is the way, the truth, and the life, John 14:6. Apart from Him there is no true righteousness and no lasting freedom, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23.

We agree with you that education, position, or knowledge of the law does not make a person righteous. As it is written, not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called, but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise, 1 Corinthians 1:26-27. Let no one boast before God, for it is God who justifies and God who searches the heart. Your humility in acknowledging this and in not wishing to look down on others is pleasing to the Lord, and we pray the Lord keeps your own heart guarded from bitterness as you continue to pray for those who have grieved you.

We also join you in praying Psalm 51:16-17 over the team you mentioned and over their lawyers and legal representatives. For you don’t delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. We ask the Lord to do what only He can do and to give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them, to take away the stony heart out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, Ezekiel 36:26, so that they may come to their senses and escape out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will, 2 Timothy 2:26.

We pray together now in Jesus name. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we thank You that we have access to Your throne of grace through His precious blood. We ask You to stir the hearts of these men and women who are bound by lies and to grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth. Give them, Lord, that unquenchable thirst for righteousness which You have promised to satisfy, for blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, Matthew 5:6. Convict them of sin and of righteousness and of judgment by Your Holy Spirit, that they may hate their sin and turn from what is evil in Your eyes, and learn to do what is just and compassionate and to speak honestly and to regard human life as made in Your image. We ask Your covering and peace and understanding over those who are Yours, who are chosen in Christ, and we pray that You would teach us all to be righteous and compassionate as You are. Help us to not be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good, Romans 12:21, and to leave vengeance to You, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and let Your name be exalted. We thank You, Holy Spirit, that You intercede for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer, for men ought always to pray, and not to faint, Luke 18:1, and to remember that the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9. He desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:4. Keep praying that thirst for truth would lead them to the One who is Truth, and that they would find mercy while it may still be found.

We hear how heavy this has been on your heart, and we are grateful you brought it to the Lord so honestly.

Watching people who have knowledge and influence use it in ways that feel dishonest and dismissive of others is deeply grieving. It makes sense you would feel both a longing for justice and a longing for mercy for them at the same time. Wanting them to come to see what is true and to turn from what is wrong is a good and loving prayer.

One thing that has helped others carrying a similar burden is to gently separate two things in prayer. One is the steady decision to release any need to get even or to hold onto bitterness, and to place the whole matter in God's hands. The other is the slower work of the heart, where feelings of anger and sorrow ease over time as we keep bringing them to Him. Both matter, and the second often takes longer. It can help to keep showing up in simple, faithful prayer and let the Holy Spirit do the deep work in hearts that only He can do, including your own.

If it helps, you might set aside a brief, regular time to pray specifically for that thirst for truth and righteousness you described, and then also ask the Lord to guard your own peace as you wait.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift the team and lawyers and representatives this dear one has named to You. Work in their hearts to show them what is true and good, and draw them toward repentance and life in Christ. Cover Your people with Your peace and understanding, teach us all to love righteousness and to walk in compassion, and let Your will be done. Amen.

Your prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness is one which the Lord Himself has taught you to pray, for blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. We join with you in this supplication in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation, and we thank God that His Holy Spirit intercedes for us even when our words are broken.

You have well quoted the Psalmist, for the Lord does not delight in outward sacrifice, but a broken and contrite heart He will not despise. There is a repentance which is short lived, where men turn from sin for a time and then return to it with greater gusto, but true repentance, that which is the work of the Spirit of God, gives glory to God. It confesses that His law is holy and just and good, and that the fault lies with us, for we are carnal, sold under sin. As the children's hymn so simply says, repentance is to leave the sins we loved before, and show that we in earnest grieve, by doing so no more. It is a complete change of mind with regard to sin, an honest determination by God's grace to cease from sin, and a looking to Jesus who was nailed to the cross for it.

You grieve, and rightly, that those who are learned in the law can yet be bound in horrible sins and disregard human life and honest communication. This should not surprise us, for education cannot make the heart righteous. We cannot expect the most instructed among men to act righteously by nature, for all have fallen short of the glory of God. Affection for the godly, or knowledge of statutes, will not save a soul. Only the goodness of God leading sinners to repentance, and the precious blood of Christ shed for His people, can wash away corruption and give a new nature.

Therefore we pray with you that the Lord would work upon the hearts of this team, their lawyers and representatives. That He would show them the sweetness of His goodness which has spared their lives and given them breath, and by that goodness lead them to repentance. That He would grant them that godly sorrow for sin which needs not to be repented of, and then grant them remission of sins in Christ's name. For where there is true repentance, there is the full and free forgiveness of all sins, a pardon for crimes of deepest dye, a pardon bought with Jesus blood. And for all who truly trust Him, there is no condemnation.

We do not boast before God, nor do we look down upon others, for we too must continually indulge that rare and exquisite sorrow at the feet of Jesus, not for unpardoned sin, but for pardoned sin, remembering that it was laid upon Christ. Let us continue to look to Jesus, for that sight begets repentance and makes us weep to think our Saviour bled for us. May the Lord give to those for whom you pray, and to us also, that unquenchable thirst for truth, which is found only in Him who is the Truth, and that love of righteousness which chooses the right though there were no reward for it.

We will hold you and these souls before the throne of grace, asking that the Sun of Righteousness may arise upon them with healing in His wings, that they may know Him and be found in Him, not having their own righteousness, but that which is through faith in Christ. Let His will be done.

God bless you, for Christ's sake. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We hear the burden of your prayer and join with you before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for what He Himself has promised to give.

You have prayed well to ask for a thirst for truth and righteousness. The Lord says, blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled, and again, if anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. This is not a passing wish but a longing like thirsty people for water, a desire that draws us to Christ Himself. Apart from Him there is no truth that sets free and no righteousness that endures, for true righteousness and holiness are found only in Him.

We also join you in praying for the team you named, for their lawyers and representatives, that God would have mercy on them and bring them to salvation through Jesus Christ alone. We do not ask God to bless what is false or unjust, but we ask Him to save, to forgive, and to make new. As you quoted from Psalm 51, God does not delight in outward sacrifice alone, but in a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart He will not despise. That kind of heart is itself a gift from God, sober and humble and ready to repent, and we pray He will grant it to them and to us.

We pray that the Lord would work in their hearts to convict them of sin, to give them sorrow that leads to repentance, and to turn them from disregarding what is true and from harming others made in His image. May He teach them to love honesty, to act with compassion, and to walk in the many ways He has appointed for cleansing and renewal, through prayer, humility, repentance, mercy toward others, and thankfulness to God. May they come to know that forgiveness and righteousness are not earned by works or by learning, but are received by grace through faith in Christ, whose blood alone covers sin and brings peace and understanding.

We thank you for the humility in your prayer, that you do not boast and do not look down on others, but remember that all have fallen short of the glory of God. That humility keeps prayer sincere and keeps us watching over our own hearts as well.

So we continue with you in relentless prayer. May the Lord give to you, to them, and to all of us an unquenchable thirst for His truth and His righteousness, that we may come to Christ and drink deeply, and that out of us may flow living water by His Spirit. May His will be done, and may He be exalted in showing mercy, granting repentance, and making us to walk in what is good and pleasing in His sight.

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation and our righteousness, amen.
