Disciple of Prayer
I need help praying for my relationship, that God will free my partner from his addictions, that God will remove anything and anyone that is trying to come in between of our relationship or trying to hinder our relationship, and that God will bring my partner closer to him and help him to love me the right way. In Jesus‘s precious name, Amen

We join with you in prayer for this relationship and for your partner, and we thank you for praying in the precious name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name alone that we are saved and heard. As it is written, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We want to lovingly address what you have shared about your relationship. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as God designed it, and we view what the world calls dating or being partners as courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer. We encourage you to see this relationship in that light. If this man is to be your husband, we pray that your courtship would be one that honors God in purity and in purpose. The Scripture says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4 and Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. If there is any sexual intimacy outside of marriage in this relationship, we urge you both to repent and to flee fornication, choosing to honor God with your bodies and to pursue purity until marriage. We also urge you to consider whether you are equally yoked in Christ, for we are told Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness 2 Corinthians 6:14. A relationship that is to reflect Christ must be built on shared faith and obedience to Him.

We also hear your burden for his addictions. We know that addiction is a form of bondage, but we serve a God who sets captives free. The Word says Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage Galatians 5:1 and No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. We pray that God would break every chain in his life, whether it be substances, pornography, alcohol, or any other stronghold, and that he would submit himself fully to God. Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7.

We pray together for you both.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus and lift up this dear sister and the man she loves. Lord, we ask first for Your will to be done in this relationship. If it is Your will that they be joined together as husband and wife, we pray You would make that path clear and lead them toward a holy marriage that glorifies You. Remove anything and anyone that would hinder what You intend for good, but also remove this relationship if it is not Your best for them. Lord, we pray for this man, that You would draw him close to Yourself, open his eyes to Your truth, forgive his sins, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Break the power of addiction over his life, set him free indeed, and give him a new heart that desires holiness and righteousness. Teach him how to love rightly and sacrificially, as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. Help him to love this woman with purity, honor, patience and self control, not with lust or selfishness, for love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not proud 1 Corinthians 13:4. Lord, strengthen our sister to walk in wisdom, to guard her heart, to seek godly counsel in her local church, and to trust You above all. Help them both to seek You first and to flee from all impurity. We ask that You transform them by the renewing of their minds Romans 12:2 and lead them into freedom and wholeness in Christ. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently, to remain in the Word daily, and to seek the counsel of a pastor or mature believers who can walk with you both. Encourage him to seek help and accountability for his addictions through biblical counseling and Christian community, and set clear boundaries that honor God. Trust that God loves you both deeply and desires not only to heal this relationship but to make each of you whole in Christ. We will continue to stand with you in prayer that God will be glorified in your lives and that His perfect will would be accomplished.

Thank you for trusting us with this burden. We hear how much you love your partner and how heavy it feels to watch addiction take its toll on him and on your relationship, and to want so much for him to know God more deeply and love you well.

Caring for someone in addiction can leave you feeling responsible for his choices and exhausted trying to hold everything together. It helps to remember you cannot carry his recovery for him, even while you love him and pray faithfully. What you can do is keep bringing him to Jesus, stay rooted in your own walk with the Lord, and seek wise, steady support around you so you are not facing this alone.

If you have not already, it may help to talk with a trusted pastor or a Christian counselor who understands addiction, or to connect with a safe support community like Celebrate Recovery or another recovery ministry in your area. A caring person there can help you think through healthy boundaries, next steps, and how to care for your own wellbeing while you continue to pray. If addiction is affecting safety or health, please also reach out for professional help alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this dear sister and her partner to You. Draw him to Yourself and bring freedom where there is bondage. Give her wisdom, strength and peace for each day, and surround them both with godly help and counsel. Lead them toward what is healing and true according to Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your burden for one you love has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace. It is a heavy thing to watch one dear to you held fast by addiction and to feel the strain it places upon your hearts.

We are reminded that deliverance from sin in all its forms is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He alone brings forth from bondage, and He has found a ransom. That ransom is Christ Jesus our Lord, who was given that sinners might be delivered from the pit and from the power of darkness. What man cannot break in his own strength, God can break by His free grace, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin.

Therefore we pray not according to mere human wishes, but according to the mercy and holiness of God.

We pray for your partner, that the Lord would have mercy upon him and draw him to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we must be saved. We ask that God would open his eyes to see his need of a Saviour, grant him repentance and faith, and by that same power deliver him from the tyranny of addiction. Where sin has taken hold, we ask the Lord to show Himself mighty to sanctify as well as to justify, to break the chains and to make him whole.

We pray also for you, that the Lord would keep you near to Himself, give you wisdom, strength and peace, and guard your heart in holiness. God’s good and gracious design for love between a man and a woman is that it be nurtured and expressed within the lifelong covenant of marriage, and that purity be kept within that covenant. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His will, but we ask Him to order your relationship according to His perfect will and for His glory. We pray that He would remove every ungodly influence and temptation that hinders holiness, and that He would so work in both of you that your love for one another would be a right and pure love, shaped by His love for you, marked by truth, self denial and honour. If it be His will that you walk together in that holy covenant, we pray He would lead you plainly toward it in His timing and His way. If not, we pray He would give you grace to trust and to follow Him faithfully wherever He leads.

We ask that whatever affliction you now bear may become, by His grace, a testimony to His delivering power, that you both may live and declare the works of the Lord. May the Lord who delivered Israel with silver and gold, and who delivers sinners by the blood of the Lamb, enrich you with His presence and make your deliverance effectual for His praise.

We will continue to pray that you both are brought closer to Christ first, and that from that nearness all other loves may be made right and holy before Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
