We hear the burden on your heart for faithfulness and purity in this relationship and we join you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name.
We want to speak openly with you about what God desires for relationships. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as God designed it, and we pray for godly marriages that honor Him. When you speak of your partner, we understand you are in a courtship, and we want to encourage you to see this time as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, looking for a godly spouse rather than simply a partner. God calls us to pursue relationships that align with biblical principles, and His word says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. If you and this man are not yet married, we lovingly urge you both to flee any sexual immorality and to keep yourselves pure until marriage, for this is the will of God, that you should be sanctified, that you should abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5. The Scripture also warns Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and describes how the lips of an adulteress drip honey and her mouth is smoother than oil, but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood Proverbs 5:3-4. Entertaining strange women or a third party is not a small matter, it is sin that grieves God and breaks trust, and a man who honors God will set firm boundaries and keep his heart and eyes faithful.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to God. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus, believing that He died and rose again for your sins, and to call upon His name in every prayer. If you will declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9.
We pray for you both now.
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this relationship to You. We ask that You draw this man close to Yourself, that his heart would be fully surrendered to You and that he would choose faithfulness and self control. Give him strength to flee temptation, to turn his eyes away from any strange woman, and to honor You with his body and his thoughts. We pray that any ungodly influence, any solicitation or pursuit from other women, would be scattered and severed from him, and that those women themselves would come to respect You, to respect him, and to respect themselves, turning from what does not honor You. Lord, establish a hedge of protection and purity around this courtship. If it is Your will, lead them toward a holy marriage that reflects Christ and the church, and if not, give them wisdom and peace to follow Your path. Help them to be equally yoked as believers and to seek counsel, accountability, and boundaries that keep them pure. Heal any hurt, jealousy, or insecurity in this sister's heart and fill her with Your peace and trust in You. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and mediator, amen.
We encourage you to continue in prayer, to study the Scriptures together, to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers, and to have honest conversation about your commitment to purity and to marriage if God is leading you there. Trust the Lord to guard what is His and to work in both of your hearts for His glory.
