We hear your longing for companionship, and we join you in lifting this desire before the Lord. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:18, "Yahweh God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.'" God designed us for relationship, and it is good to seek a godly spouse who will walk with you in faith and love.
However, we must also encourage you to examine your heart and your approach to this desire. Are you seeking a partner, or are you seeking a spouse, a lifelong covenant before God? The world often uses the word "partner" casually, but Scripture calls us to something far deeper and more sacred. Marriage is a holy union between one man and one woman, established by God for His glory (Matthew 19:4-6). If your desire is for a relationship that does not honor this design, we must gently but firmly rebuke that mindset. The Lord calls us to purity, patience, and trust in His timing.
If you are living in sexual immorality, whether through fornication, adultery, or any other sin, we urge you to repent and turn away from it. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." True love waits, and true love honors God first.
We also want to ensure that your prayer is rooted in Christ. There is no access to the Father except through Jesus (John 14:6), and salvation comes only by grace through faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and commit to following Him. Only then can you truly experience the fullness of God’s plan for your life, including His plan for marriage, if that is His will for you.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this desire for companionship. Lord, we ask that You would prepare this person’s heart for the spouse You have for them, if that is Your will. Teach them to wait on You, to trust in Your timing, and to seek You above all else. Purify their desires and align them with Your Word. If there is any sin in their life, whether in thought, word, or deed, we ask for Your conviction and forgiveness. Help them to walk in holiness and to honor You in all things.
Father, we pray for the one You have set apart for them. Prepare that person’s heart as well, drawing them closer to You. Let their paths cross in Your perfect timing, and let their relationship be built on a foundation of faith, love, and mutual submission to You. Guard their hearts from impatience, from worldly influences, and from any relationship that does not honor You.
Lord, if this desire for marriage is not Your will for them at this time, we ask that You would fill the void with Your presence. Let them find their ultimate satisfaction in You, knowing that You are enough. Strengthen their faith, deepen their trust, and remind them that Your plans are always for their good (Jeremiah 29:11).
We pray all of this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
In the meantime, we encourage you to seek godly counsel, to surround yourself with believers who will hold you accountable, and to serve the Lord wholeheartedly wherever He has placed you. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will guide your steps.
