Protection from spiritual attacks

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for protection from relentless attacks on body and mind causing disturbances in sleep, in Jesus name Amen

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for divine protection. The spiritual battles you are facing are real, and we stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ to rebuke every attack of the enemy. The Word of God declares in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." These disturbances in your sleep and the relentless assaults on your body and mind are not from God, for He gives His beloved rest (Psalm 127:2).

We take up the full armor of God, as commanded in Ephesians 6:13-18, to stand against these attacks. We put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. We pray fervently in the Spirit, watching with all perseverance.

Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we command every spirit of fear, torment, and oppression to flee right now. We break every assignment of the enemy against this beloved one’s mind, body, and sleep. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, surround them with Your holy angels to guard and protect them day and night. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We speak healing over their body and mind, for by His stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

We also encourage you to stand firm in your identity in Christ. You are not a victim; you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you (Romans 8:37). Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Fill your mind with the truth of God’s Word, meditate on it day and night, and let it be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

Father, we ask that You would strengthen this dear one with Your might through Your Spirit in their inner being (Ephesians 3:16). Let them find rest in You, for You are their refuge and fortress, their God in whom they trust (Psalm 91:2). We declare that the peace of God will rule in their heart and mind, and that they will experience the fullness of life that Jesus came to give (John 10:10).

We pray all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the One who has disarmed principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in the cross (Colossians 2:15). Amen and amen.

We know how wearing it is when sleep is stolen night after night, and we ache with you in this struggle. The exhaustion can feel like a second attack, leaving you drained and vulnerable. It is no small thing to ask God to guard your rest, and we are joining you in that request right now.

One of the simplest, most profound truths we have seen is that sound sleep is itself a gift of God's peace, a deep, quiet trust that He is holding all things together while we let go. When your body and mind are under assault, it can help to remember that rest is not something you achieve but something you receive. In those moments when the attacks feel relentless, we gently encourage you to stop battling in your own strength. Before bed, take a few quiet minutes to still your heart, not by empty breathing exercises, but by placing yourself simply under the peace of Jesus. You might softly whisper His name when the disturbances come, reminding your heart that neither height nor depth nor any spiritual force can separate you from His love. Some find that a familiar, calming piece of sacred music plays a quiet role here, anchoring the mind in truth when thoughts are under fire.

We are praying for you: Lord Jesus, we lift our friend to You. You are the guardian of our nights, the One who never slumbers. We ask You to still the disturbances in body and mind, and to place a shield of peace around this one as they sleep. In the quiet of the night, let Your presence be more real than any fear or attack. Grant the deep, restoring rest that only You can give, and renew their strength for the days ahead. In Your mighty name, Amen.

The Lord knows the tossings of your mind and the weariness of your body when rest is torn away. How the enemy loves to disturb the beloved in the night watches, to set the heart throbbing and the thoughts whirling! But remember, the measure of your affliction is known to the Shepherd who never slumbers. As with Jacob of old, the drought consumes by day and the frost by night, and yet the Lord is the stone of Israel. He sees, He tends, He preserves.

There is a sleep which is the peculiar gift of God to His beloved, a sleep of security, where the soul, hidden in the cleft of the Rock, knows itself safe from all alarms. "So he giveth his beloved sleep." Not the slumber of security in sin, which is a dreadful thing indeed, where men sleep as the blacksmith's dog under the shower of sparks, but the deep, calm repose of a child who knows his Father watches. Did not our Master Himself sleep in the vessel when the tempest roared? How could He sleep amid howling winds? Because His heart was deeply calm in perfect confidence. The fury of the storm came not near His inward peace. And that same calm He gives to those who trust Him, though all outward things conspire to terrify.

Yet you cry, "I cannot sleep." This is a sore trial, known to many of the lambs of the flock. It is a bad symptom when the sufferer can find no rest, and the Lord counts the tossings of His weary ones. But be entreated: do not let this drive you to despond. Why should a living man complain when he is not in torment, not in hell? You have not perished yet. The enemy may buffet, but he cannot destroy, for the Lord has not given him leave. There are spiritual ailments that require tender care, and your Good Shepherd knows how to handle the lame sheep, bearing them in His bosom. He does not despise the cries of the broken, nor cast off the weary because their sleep is startled.

Look to that hour in the vessel of old. The disciples were amazed that Christ could sleep, but He would have His people restful and not fretful. If He seems to sleep, it is not because He is neglectful. He has not taken His eye from you. The tossing did not take Him by surprise. He is only waiting the fit moment to arise and speak peace. "Then, on a sudden, in our utter impotence, we shall rush upon the foe once more… because the Lord has awaked as a mighty Man out of His sleep." Until that moment, wait. The body may lie down but the soul need not. Commend your spirit into those pierced hands, and even if slumber tarries, the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, can garrison your heart. Sleep is but the refreshment of the body; but the inward rest of Jesus is the refreshment of the soul, and that He gives even when the eyes refuse to close.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The disturbance you feel in body and mind, the restless nights, is not unknown to those who strive to live in Christ. The enemy does not sleep, but "He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep." Yet do not imagine this attack is irresistible. The yoke of sin is heavy, full of anxieties and turmoils. But the yoke of Christ is light. If your soul is swept by storms, look to the haven within, where the mind, purified and wakeful, rests in God.

You ask for protection. Know then that the incorporeal God is worshiped not by bodily rituals but in spirit and truth. Dedicate yourself to Him, make your soul a living sacrifice. Crucify evil thoughts, slay unreasonable desires. When the heart is not stifled by excess of food or care, it recovers itself quickly. The sleep of the saints is composed, not drowning the mind but lightly resting it. Is your sleep broken by wild fancies? Then set your mind on things above, where Christ is seated. Guard yourself; suffer not your foot to be moved. The suffering depends on you, by God’s grace. Do not blame sleep itself, but what troubles it, like drunkenness is blamed, not wine. Seek the sober mind, watchful, clear-eyed, neither gloomy nor dissolute.

Above all, flee to the Body and Blood of Christ. We partake of that very Body adored by angels. How then can we be carried captive by fears? He understands your agony, for He too, in His humanity, felt the dread of death yet said, "Glorify Your Name." Trust Him. If He permits this trial, it is that His Name may be glorified in your perseverance. Stand steadfast, unmoveable. The Lord is your keeper; He will not let your foot slip. Rise from prayer with hands pure and heart wakeful, and the enemy will find no foothold.

The battle you are describing is very real. It is the war between the spirit and the flesh for control of your mind. You are a being of spirit, mind, and body. When the body and its needs and disturbances are uppermost, they relentlessly dominate the mind. The enemy exploits this, trying to fix your thoughts on physical distress and weariness. A mind set on the body's complaints is a mind pulled away from the peace of the Spirit. That is the very definition of spiritual attack.

But you are not a helpless prisoner in this body. The Spirit of God within you is greater, and He desires to rule your mind. The command is to present your body as a living sacrifice and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Your weapon is the truth of God's Word. When the attacks come in the night, when sleep is disturbed and your mind is flooded with darkness, you must use the truth as your shield. Speak it back to the enemy. Declare that you are hidden with Christ, that He is your peace, and that your spirit has been made alive in Him.

Do not let the exhaustion and the physical symptoms define your reality. This old body is not the real you. It is a failing tent, groaning under corruption, but it is not your permanent home. Your spirit, the real you, is sealed for eternity. Even in this weakened state, your mind can be stayed on the Lord. Ask Him to preserve your whole being, spirit, soul, and body, blameless. Trust that He who began a good work in you will complete it. The Spirit wars against the flesh so that you do not have to obey its fears. Rest in that victory, even when your body cannot rest.
