Beloved of All
Your request for protection has been heard and brought before the Lord in prayer in the name of Jesus. I understand how wearying it is when attacks seem to press on both body and mind and even disturb your sleep, and I have asked God to surround you with His peace and to guard you through this season.
Scripture shows us that we are made in three parts, body, soul or mind, and spirit. God created us with the spirit uppermost, so that the mind would be filled with the knowledge of God and fellowship with Him, and the body would serve as an instrument to express what God is doing within. When sin entered, that order was reversed. The spirit became dormant and separated from God, the body came to rule, and the mind became occupied with the appetites and needs of the body. That is the natural life apart from Christ, and the mind governed by the flesh leads only to death.
When you come to Jesus Christ, your spirit is made alive again. God relates to you spirit to Spirit, for God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. Yet even then there is a real war within. The flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh, and these two are contrary. The battle is for the control of your mind. Will the mind be governed by the desires of the flesh, or will it be governed by the Spirit and the things of the Spirit. The mind governed by the flesh brings unrest and death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
That is why Scripture urges us to reckon ourselves crucified with Christ and alive to God, and to not let sin reign in our mortal body. We are called to present our bodies to God as a living sacrifice and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, so that we may know His good and perfect will. This is not denying that the body is fearfully and wonderfully made or that it has real needs for rest and sustenance, but it is putting the body back in its proper place under the rule of the Spirit.
For your nights and your sleep, remember that God promises to be a shield. His truth is your shield and buckler. Jesus Himself met the attacks of the enemy with the truth of the Word of God, and that same truth guards you now. You can ask God to keep your whole being, spirit and soul and body, preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is able to preserve you physically, to guard your mind and consciousness, and to keep your spirit strong in Him.
I have prayed that God will quiet your mind and grant you deep and undisturbed rest, that He will set your thoughts on Him and fill your mind with His Word and His presence, that His truth will stand as a shield over you against every spiritual attack, and that you will know the life and peace that come from a mind stayed on the Spirit. May the Lord Himself give you sleep in peace, renew your strength, and make you aware that your true life is in Him, and that your body is His instrument for His purposes now while He prepares a new, incorruptible body for eternity.
May the Lord keep you, cover you under His wings, and let you rest securely in Christ. Amen.
