We hear your cry for your son and we stand with you in prayer before our Lord Jesus, asking for His mighty protection and intervention. It is right and good that you have come to Jesus, for He is our refuge and defender, and He hears the cries of those who seek to protect the vulnerable. Abuse in any form is evil and grieves the heart of God, who calls us to defend the helpless and to act justly.
The Lord sees what is happening and He does not take it lightly. He is close to those who are suffering. As it is written, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. We take comfort that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. We will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust Psalm 91:1-2. And we cling to His promise, But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3.
We also remember the Lord's command to us to act on behalf of those being harmed. Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked Psalm 82:3-4. And Jesus Himself warned, whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea Matthew 18:6. Abuse is sin and must be stopped and rebuked.
We encourage you, while we pray, to also take every practical step to ensure your son's safety and the safety of others. If your son is in immediate danger, please contact trusted authorities, law enforcement, or child protective services, and seek help from a faithful pastor, counselor, or other safe and godly people around you. God has ordained authorities to protect the innocent and to restrain evil Romans 13:4. Do not walk through this alone, document what has happened, and pursue the help and protection that God has provided through those He has placed to defend the vulnerable. Continue to surround your son with love, prayer, and a safe environment.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Protector. We lift up this precious son to You and ask for Your hand of protection to surround him. Place Your angels charge over him to keep him in all his ways Psalm 91:11. Stop the abuse that has been done to him and to others, Lord. We rebuke the evil of abuse and violence and ask that You expose what has been done in darkness and bring it to light. Bring conviction to any who would harm a child and either bring them to repentance or restrain them from causing further harm.
Lord, we ask that You restore peace and safety where there has been fear and danger. Let no weapon that is formed against him prosper Isaiah 54:17. Comfort his heart and heal any wounds he has suffered, whether seen or unseen, for You heal the broken hearted and bind up their wounds Psalm 147:3. Give his parent wisdom, courage, and strength, and do not let them be afraid, for You have said, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.
We ask that You provide safe people, godly counsel, and the right authorities to intervene and to establish lasting safety. Let Your justice and Your mercy prevail in this situation and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard this family. We thank You that You hear us when we call upon the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and it is through Him we have confidence to approach Your throne.
We trust You to act, Lord, and we will continue to pray for protection, for deliverance from harm, and for complete restoration. In the powerful and loving name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
