Protection from abuse

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Lord Jesus, please intervene and protect my son ### from harm and danger. Stop the abuse towards him and others, in Jesus name amen

We hear your heartfelt cry for protection over your son, and we join you in lifting this heavy burden before the throne of grace. The Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We stand firmly on His promise that He will command His angels concerning us to guard us in all our ways (Psalm 91:11). Father, we ask You to surround with Your divine protection, shielding him from every form of harm, danger, and abuse. Let no weapon formed against him prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and let every plan of the enemy be thwarted in Jesus' mighty name.

Abuse in any form is a violation of God’s design for human dignity and love. The Bible is clear that we are to defend the oppressed and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8-9). Lord, we ask that You expose the darkness of abuse and bring it to an end. Break the chains of fear and silence, and let Your justice prevail. Give the courage to speak up if he is able, and surround him with godly people who will stand with him and advocate for his safety.

We also pray for those who are perpetrating harm. Father, we ask that You soften their hearts and bring conviction through Your Holy Spirit. Lead them to repentance and transformation, for You desire that none should perish but that all should come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). If they refuse to turn from their ways, we ask that You remove them from positions of influence where they can cause further harm.

Lord, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Comfort in the midst of this trial. Heal any wounds, physical, emotional, or spiritual, that he may be carrying. Restore his sense of safety and peace, and let him know that he is deeply loved by You. Strengthen his faith and remind him that You are his strong tower, his hiding place (Proverbs 18:10).

We rebuke every spirit of fear, oppression, and trauma that may be trying to take hold of . In the name of Jesus, we declare that he is covered by the blood of Christ, and no weapon formed against him shall prosper. We pray for wisdom for you and for all who are involved in his care, teachers, counselors, pastors, and family members. Guide their steps and give them discernment to act in ways that align with Your will.

Father, we also lift up others who may be suffering abuse in silence. Open their eyes to Your love and protection. Let them know that they are not alone, and that You are a God who sees, hears, and acts on behalf of the afflicted. Raise up advocates in their lives who will stand with them and help them find safety and healing.

We pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the One who came to set the captives free and bind up the brokenhearted. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your glory be revealed as You move mightily on behalf of and all who are oppressed. Amen.

Thank you for bringing this heavy burden to us. We hear the ache in your words as you plead for your son, and we’re joining you in lifting him before the Lord. Your love for him is clear, and crying out to Jesus is the most powerful first step you can take.

When abuse is happening, it can feel isolating and overwhelming, but you don’t have to carry this alone. Alongside prayer, it often helps to draw a trusted person into the situation, a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a wise friend who can walk with you. Abuse grows in secrecy, and simply letting one safe person know what’s going on can be a crucial move toward protection. Seeking practical help isn’t a lapse in faith; God regularly works through his people to bring rescue and healing.

Your son needs you to be his steady, believing advocate. If you haven’t already, gently reassure him that this isn’t his fault, and that you will do whatever it takes to help him be safe. And if anyone is in immediate danger, involving the proper authorities is a responsible and loving act, one of the ways God provides shelter in a broken world.

We’re praying with you now, trusting the One who defends the vulnerable.

Lord Jesus, you see this precious son. We ask you to surround him with your strong protection, to block every attempt to harm him, and to bring any hidden abuse into the light. Give his mother clear wisdom and unshakable courage to take the steps that lead to real safety. Place trustworthy people in their path, and let the abuse stop, fully and permanently. In your mighty name, amen.

The very first plea of thine heart must fly not merely to the throne of grace for temporal rescue, but to the cross where the Son of God put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. If thou dost believe that His atoning death has blotted out thy transgressions and those of thy son, then thou hast a sure foothold for every other mercy. The Father, beholding the blood of His own dear Son, forgets the sins of His people; how much more, then, will He turn His ear to their cry when violence assails them? Let this be the anchor of thy soul: God’s great love led Him to give Jesus for thy ransom; shall He not with Him also freely give all things, including protection from the oppressor?

He who travels on the King’s highway is under the King’s protection. There are appointed ways in which angelic keeping is guaranteed, and one of those is the way of childlike trust in providential guidance. Commit thy son into the hands of Him who has charged His angels concerning all who put their trust in Him. This protection is not a passing fancy; it is perpetual as well as personal. The Lord who encloses His farm and maintains it against all intruders will not abandon His own portion bought with blood. Let thy faith speak boldly in the face of tyranny: “I said unto Jehovah, Thou art my God.” That is the possession asserted! Then let thy prayer follow: “Hear the voice of my supplications, O Jehovah.” And with that prayer, take hold of the promise that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted and the right of the poor. If thy son is oppressed, if he is slandered, if wicked hands are laid upon him, God Himself will see to it; He will be his Armor-Bearer, covering his head in the day of armor. The adversary may open his mouth and let his venom come forth, but he can do no ultimate harm, for the Lord is thy God.

Yet let not thine eye be fixed only on the outward danger. The evil of abuse is a symptom of the deep disease of sin in the abuser’s heart, a soul alienated from God, uncultivated, and overgrown with every foul weed. It is a horrible thing that any creature should act so unworthily, like those who watched the blessed Son of God ready to heal and yet blamed Him. But Christ Jesus came to give Himself for sinners, even the chief, and His power to subdue the raging of the human heart is as mighty as His power to deliver the victim. Therefore, pray not only for rescue but for the saving transformation of the one who does harm, though such grace is no excuse for the evil. Stand fast in the truth which God has taught thee; grapple divine verities to thy soul as with hooks of steel, for if thou turn aside into the bypaths of unbelief or error, thou canst not expect divine protection. But walking uprightly, look for the Lord’s own intervention. The Son of God stooped low to be called the carpenter’s son, and in that lowliness He knows all the sorrows of His people. He is able to deliver, and He will, in His time, break in pieces every arrogant power that dares to exalt itself against His little ones. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry; blessed are all they that put their trust in Him. Let no prejudice against His lowly guise rob thee of His help. Cry mightily for this deliverance in Jesus’ name, and believe that the Father hears thee for the sake of His Son. Fret not thyself because of evildoers; rather, rest in the sure knowledge that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted. Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto His name; the upright shall dwell in His presence.
