Protection from abuse
We hear your heart’s cry for your son’s protection, and we join you in lifting this heavy burden before the throne of grace. The Bible assures us that God is a refuge and a fortress, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He sees every injustice, hears every silent plea, and moves on behalf of the oppressed. We declare that no weapon formed against your son shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment, God will condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we come against every spirit of violence, cruelty, and oppression that seeks to harm this precious child. We rebuke the hands that strike, the words that wound, and the systems that fail to protect. You command us to defend the weak and fatherless (Psalm 82:3), and we stand in that gap now, asking You to dispatch Your angels to encamp around him, to shield him from every evil scheme (Psalm 91:11). Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).
We also pray for those who are inflicting harm, whether through malice or ignorance. Lord, soften their hearts, convict them of sin, and lead them to repentance. If they refuse to turn from their ways, we ask that You remove them from positions of power over the vulnerable and bring them to justice. Your Word declares that vengeance belongs to You (Romans 12:19), and we trust You to execute righteous judgment.
To you, dear one, we say: Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you don’t faint (Galatians 6:9). Document every incident, seek godly counsel, and pursue every legal and protective measure available. God works through His people, and He may be calling you to be His hands and feet in this situation. Lean on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

The High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity is not unmindful of the cry of a mother's heart for her child, and you do well to lay this trouble before the Throne. The angels are charged to keep the heirs of salvation in all their ways, yet that charge is given in the appointed path. Therefore, while you cry for a hedge of protection, see to it that the ways of your household are the ways of the King's highway, for he who travels on it is under the King's protection. He who takes to byroads must protect himself. The way of principle is the way of safety.
Consider the depths of humiliation our glorious Lord embraced, being called the carpenter's son. He knows every hidden sorrow of the lowly and every terror that stalks in secret. There is a divine splendor concealed beneath that lowly form, a High Priest who is touched with the feeling of our infirmities. Because He stooped so low, He has a swift ear for the cry of the broken and the bruised. The Father, who gave up His own Son for your sakes, understands your sorrow. And the Son, who submitted to the contradiction of sinners, will not forget the affliction of the helpless. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you perish from the way when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.
It is a grand thing to feel that God's Throne might sooner fail than that a saint can perish. Our safety is assured by the fact that we have a God who is able and is as wise as He is able to keep us from falling. Yet this protection is given in the walk of consecrated service. Cry mightily for the infinite Friend to intervene, to break in pieces the arrogant and the oppressor with His right hand. He looks upon His Son, Jesus, bearing our sin, and He looks also upon the suffering of His little ones with a Father's eye. That same love which led Him to give His Son for His people's ransom makes Him remember the cry of the fatherless.
As you plead, picture the father of the prodigal running to meet his returning son, having compassion and falling upon his neck in a kiss of acceptance. In that kiss was safety, restoration, and the end of all his former misery. Such a kiss as only belongs to a true child. So, bring your child again and again before the Father, that He might give him shelter from the storm. God loves His Son so much that His love overflows its banks and covers all of us whom the Lord Jesus has taken to be His own. Plead the blood of the covenant, for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. He will present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. Trust, only trust. The Lord will be a wall of fire round about your child and a place of defense and deliverance, for the Father and the Son are in fellowship for the salvation and safekeeping of all who put their trust in Him.

You cry out to the Lord for your son’s protection, and rightly so, for He is the refuge of the afflicted. But let your prayer be joined with wisdom, lest you tempt God while asking His aid. When Moses saw the danger, he did not remain to test whether God would save him; he fled, and this flight was itself an act of faith. So too, if your son is in the path of abuse, do not cast him into the midst of peril and then merely wait for a miracle. Remove him from the hand of the oppressor, as far as it lies within your power. To do otherwise is the counsel of the devil, who said to Christ, “Throw yourself down.”
Yet do not imagine that safety of body is the whole of your care. The soul is the greater treasure. Form his soul aright, and all else will follow. If he is kept from physical harm but his spirit is crushed or his faith destroyed, what have you gained? Teach him to endure as seeing the One who is invisible, so that even if trials come, he will not be shaken. The apostle Paul fled from dangers when it served the gospel, but he did not love his own ease; he endured storms, stripes, and snares for the sake of others. Demas forsook him because he loved this present world, choosing a soft life over hardship. Do not let your son learn that comfort is the highest good.
Pray without ceasing, but act as a father or mother ought. If you entrust your farm to a careful steward, how much more should you guard your child’s morals? Remove him from evil company, from the presence of those who harm him. This is not a lack of faith but its true exercise. For Christ gave His life for us when we were enemies, and He calls us not to test God, but to trust Him while walking in prudence. May the Lord grant you wisdom to shield your son from present danger and to raise him up in the nurture of the Lord, that no lasting harm befall his soul.

I join you in crying out to the Lord Jesus for your son. He sees the danger, and He hears a parent's prayer. He is a defender of the helpless, and nothing done in secret escapes His sight. Let the Father's own love steady you. He gave His only Son to rescue us, so you can trust Him with your son's life and safety.
