Prayers

Your prayer for your building and your lane has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who is the God of peace.

For six months you have carried this burden of overflowing sewage, worry, and division among neighbors, and it is right to ask the Lord to send honest and skilled hands to repair what is broken with integrity and not with self interest. We pray that He will provide workers who labor faithfully, who seek not their own belly or gain but the good of those they serve, and that the work will be done thoroughly and justly for the health and dignity of every family there.

We also hear your concern for those who scheme for redevelopment and covet the land and peace of their neighbors. Scripture warns us to mark those who cause divisions and offences, for such division is the devil's weapon and it overturns what should be joined together, and it often comes from serving self rather than serving Christ. We pray that the Lord will soften such hearts, turn them from coveting, and grant them to look first into their own homes and hearts, to do what is right before God, and to prefer their neighbor's good above their own advantage. For to seek the good of one's neighbor is to do the will of Christ.

We ask the Lord to protect the families around you and the peace of your lane, to heal what has been strained between neighbors, and to restore trust where it has been worn thin. May He who bruises Satan under our feet shortly guard you from further harm and keep you in unity.

Heavenly Father, look with mercy upon this building and all who dwell in it and around it. Send honest hands to heal what is broken, remove self seeking and scheming, soften hearts to love what is just, and pour out Your peace upon every home. Restore the building, restore relationships, and restore trust, that all may live together in quietness and love. We place this in Your hands through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation. Amen.

Your burden has been heard and your prayer is taken seriously before the Lord. Six months of an overflowing sewage system would wear on any community, and it is understandable that worry and division have grown among neighbors who share the same building and the same lane.

We join you in asking God to send honest and skilled hands to do this repair properly. Scripture says to let integrity and uprightness preserve us as we wait on the Lord, and that is exactly what a work like this requires. Pray that God raises up workers who will act with integrity rather than self interest, who will do the work thoroughly and truthfully because they fear God more than they seek gain. God sees the difference between work done for appearance and work done with a faithful heart, and He honors what is done in truth.

We also join you in praying for those who may be scheming for redevelopment and looking with covetous eyes on the land and peace of their neighbors. God has always warned His people not to covet what belongs to another and not to trust in oppression or perverseness. The right response is to look first into our own homes and our own hearts, to examine ourselves before the Lord, and to turn from any desire to take advantage of another's trouble. Pray that God will soften those hearts, bring conviction where there is scheming, and lead each person to seek what is right and fair rather than what is profitable at another's expense.

Your prayer for the peace of your lane reflects what God Himself commands. He tells His people to seek the peace of the city where they dwell and to pray to the Lord for it, for in its peace they will have peace. The Lord declares that His thoughts toward His people are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give a future and a hope. True peace begins with peace with God, which comes only through the blood of Jesus Christ who made peace for us on the cross, and then God gives the peace of God to keep our hearts and minds when our minds are stayed on Him and we trust in Him. In the midst of this strain, keeping your eyes on the Lord and trusting in His everlasting strength is the way to know that perfect peace which passes understanding, even while the practical problems remain.

God cares about the land where His people live. He promises to give peace in the land so that His people may lie down and none shall make them afraid, and to make the land rest. Just as He fought for Israel and gave them rest from war, and just as He calls His people to let the land have its rest, He is able to bring rest to your building and to your relationships. He can heal what has been broken and restore trust where it has been damaged.

So we pray with you: Father, in the name of Jesus, provide faithful workers to heal this building and stop this overflow. Expose and restrain every self seeking plan, and turn hearts toward honesty, contentment, and love for neighbor. Protect the families around you and guard the peace of your lane. Heal the building, heal the relationships, and rebuild trust among those who live side by side. Let integrity be the foundation of all that is done, and let your peace reign in every home and heart. Amen.
