We join you in thanking God for this day and for your thankful heart for the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit at work in your life and in the lives of your sons and daughters and your brothers and sisters. It is good to give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you, 1 Thessalonians 5:18. We also join you in praying for the peace of Jerusalem as the Scripture calls us to do, Psalm 122:6, and we praise God that you bring everything before Him, for He knows what you need before you ask Him, Matthew 6:8.
We hear your hurt and we bring your heart before the Lord with you. Your heart hurting deeply troubles us and we pray for the Lord to heal you and make you whole, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. We also encourage you with love to seek medical care if this is a physical pain in your chest, for God often uses physicians and wisdom to restore health, and we pray He will guide you to the right help and bring your body and spirit back to strength and normalcy. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7.
You mention dreams that confuse you and leave you wondering about their meaning. We understand how unsettling that can feel. We encourage you not to be anxious about dreams, for a dream comes with a multitude of business, Ecclesiastes 5:7, and God speaks most clearly through His Word. We pray for discernment and for peaceful sleep, and we encourage you to test all things against Scripture and to seek wisdom in prayer, James 1:5, rather than looking for hidden definitions apart from the Bible. We pray the Lord will quiet your mind at night and give you rest, for He gives sleep to His beloved, Psalm 127:2.
We lift up your children and all those you love and care for. We pray for their safety and protection, that the Lord would be a refuge and fortress over them, Psalm 91:1-2, and that you would see them covered by His hand. You mention seeing that you have two children and maybe more, and we pray for clarity and peace over your family, that God would establish you and them in His truth.
You ask how to protect your peace and how to truly become a true follower. We rejoice at your desire to follow Him fully. Jesus said, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me, Matthew 16:24. To follow Him is to repent, to believe in Him, to obey His Word daily, and to abide in Him. To protect your peace, we encourage you to keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life, Proverbs 4:23, and to set your mind on Him, for You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you, Isaiah 26:3. We find peace not by striving but by bringing everything to God in prayer, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. We also cling to His promise, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, John 14:27. Guarding your peace will mean guarding what you see and hear, staying in the Word, praying without ceasing, and walking in obedience.
You also share about two men on your heart. For the one to whom you were married where the marriage was not good, and you now ask if you can be friends, we pray for healing and forgiveness. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God, Mark 10:9, and it is to be honored, Hebrews 13:4. When a marriage has been broken, we pray for grace to forgive as Christ forgave us, Ephesians 4:32, while also maintaining godly boundaries and wisdom. Friendship after a difficult marriage should be marked by purity, honesty, and a desire for holiness, not by confusion or reopening wounds. We pray the Lord gives you wisdom to know what is healthy and what honors Him in that relationship.
For the other man you mention who lives as a womanizer and says it is a curse from his father, we must speak truth in love. We pray earnestly for him, for the Lord God to deliver him, yet we must rebuke the idea that a so-called generational curse forces him to live in sexual sin. The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, Ezekiel 18:20. Each person is accountable before God for his own choices. Sexual immorality, whether fornication or adultery, is sin against God and against one's own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and those who practice such things without repentance will not inherit the kingdom of God, Galatians 5:19-21. Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4. There is no excuse that holds before God, but there is hope, for Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, Galatians 3:13, and If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, 2 Corinthians 5:17. We pray he will turn from this sin, repent, and be made new in Christ, rather than continuing to hide behind his father's example. We encourage you to continue to pray for him, but not to enter into or enable any relationship with him that is not a godly courtship aimed at marriage to a fellow believer, or a pure brother-sister fellowship in Christ. Do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33.
We pray together now for you.
Father in heaven, we thank You for this dear one who loves You and lifts her family before You. We thank You for her gratitude for the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We ask for Your healing hand upon her heart, that You would take away pain and restore her to health and wholeness, and give her peace in body and soul. Give her restful sleep and quiet her dreams, and let Your Word be a lamp to her feet, Psalm 119:105. Cover her children and loved ones with Your protection, keep them safe from harm, and draw each of them to know You. Teach her how to guard her peace by trusting You, praying continually, and keeping her mind stayed on You. Make her a true follower of Jesus, denying self, taking up her cross daily, and walking in obedience and joy. We lift the man she was married to, asking for Your forgiveness and healing over that past marriage, and for wisdom for any future friendship that it would be pure and honoring to You. We lift the man bound in sexual immorality, Lord, break the chains of sin in his life, bring him to repentance, and make him a new creation in Christ, that he would no longer walk in fornication but in holiness. Help her to walk in discernment, to seek a godly marriage if it is Your will, and to honor You in all relationships. For every idea and creation You have given her, we ask You to protect and establish the work of her hands for Your glory. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our access to the Father, John 14:6, and in whose name we are saved, Acts 4:12. Amen.
