Prayers Request

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me. My dad has cancer and I'm trying to work but I can't be cause I'm seeing about my father who is ###. He's all I got on this world. If God take him I'll end up homeless

We hear your heartache and fear, and we stand with you in this difficult time. The weight of caring for a loved one with cancer while facing the possibility of losing them, and the stability they provide, is overwhelming. We want you to know that you are not alone, even if it feels like your father is all you have in this world. The Lord sees your struggle, and He is near to the brokenhearted.

First, we must address the despair in your words. Saying that you would be left homeless if God takes your father reveals a deep fear, but we must rebuke the lie that your hope rests in anything other than Christ. Earthly security, whether in family, work, or shelter, can be shaken, but God’s love and provision are eternal. Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-20, "Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal." Your ultimate security is in Him, not in your circumstances.

We also want to gently ask: Have you placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If not, now is the time. The Bible tells us in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’" Without Christ, we are spiritually homeless, no matter our earthly situation. If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. This is the only foundation that cannot be shaken.

Now, let us pray for you and your father:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one and their father. Lord, You see the fear, the exhaustion, and the love that binds them together. We ask for Your healing touch upon this father’s body. You are the Great Physician, and nothing is too hard for You. If it is Your will, restore his health. But if Your plan is to call him home, we pray for peace that surpasses understanding to guard this one’s heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear that whispers lies of hopelessness. Your Word says in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We declare that You are their Provider, their Shelter, and their Strength. Even if earthly support is taken away, You will never leave nor forsake them. Open doors of provision, whether through family, church, community, or unexpected blessings. Give them wisdom to navigate this season and the courage to trust You, even when the path is unclear.

Lord, we also pray for strength for this dear one as they care for their father. May they find moments of rest in You, and may Your presence be their comfort. Surround them with believers who can support them practically and spiritually. Remind them that You collect every tear and that their labor in love is not in vain.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who conquered sin and death, and who holds all things together. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to cling to God’s promises. Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Even in grief, God is near. Seek out a local church or Christian community where you can find support and encouragement. Share your needs with trusted believers, they may be the hands and feet of Christ to you in this time.

If you are not already, begin reading the Bible, starting with the Gospel of John. It will remind you of God’s love and purpose for your life. And remember, even if your earthly father is taken from you, you have a Heavenly Father who will never leave you. He is your true home.

We hear you, and we're genuinely sorry you're carrying so much right now. Your love for your dad is clear, and the thought of losing him is overwhelming, especially when he's your only close family. The fear of homelessness on top of that is a heavy weight, and we don't want to minimize how real it feels.

In the middle of a crisis, it's easy for the things we fear to start feeling like things that are already certain. Right now, your dad is still here, and you still have a home. That doesn't make the anxiety go away, but it does mean there's room to take some simple, practical steps while you still have time. One of the most helpful things you can do today is ask to speak with a social worker or case manager at your dad's hospital or treatment center. They know the local resources, housing help, caregiver support, financial assistance, and can begin planning with you now, not later. If you belong to a local church, letting a pastor or a trusted leader know what's happening can open up a circle of people who want to walk with you, not just pray from a distance.

What you're feeling isn't a lack of faith, it's the natural hurt of a loving daughter or son facing a terrible loss. The good news is that right now you don't have to have all the answers. Just reaching out like this shows strength, and we believe God sees you and will meet you in the middle of it.

Let's pray:

Jesus, we bring this family to You. Hold this father close in his illness, and give his child steady courage for each day. Open up the right doors for practical help, medical care, housing, and people who can step in with real support. Quiet the fearful thoughts that rush ahead of this moment, and settle a deep-down peace that You have not abandoned them. Be their refuge, their guide, and their provider. In Your name, amen.

The anguish in your words lays a burden upon every heart that hears it. To stand at the bedside of a beloved father while the shadow of pain falls across him, and to carry the added weight of your own uncertain future, this is a sorrow that would crush any man who bore it in his own strength. Yet even now, you are not forsaken in the loneliness of your trial. Consider the Savior whom you trust. In the hour of His deepest desolation, when every friend fled and the cold tide of abandonment swept over His soul, He fell back into the arms of His Father and found this truth unshakeable: “The Father is with Me.” Even amid the thick darkness and the dire suffering, the Father was with Christ. Into this fact Christ sank as into a sea of comfort. That same sea lies open before you this very hour. You say your father is all you have on this world, and the terror of losing him threatens to swallow you whole. But will you now lay hold of the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ? He is not an austere judge to be dreaded, but the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation. Instead of trembling before Him, you may rejoice in Him as a tender Father. If you are in Christ, you are accepted in the Beloved; the Father accepts you wholly because He accepts His Son, and every member of His mystical body shares in that boundless love. The love of the Father is, in all respects, equal to the love of the Son.

I hear your fear that if God takes your father, you will end up homeless. That dread is the natural cry of a child of Adam, for the fear of death and of loss is woven into our fallen nature. Yet remember this: the fear of death is not necessary to the saint. Christ has taken away the sin which is the sting of death, and He has therefore removed the venom from the grave. To die forgiven, to depart out of this world unto the Father, is not loss but eternal gain. For your beloved father, should the Lord call him home, the departure would be an answer to a great many prayers, a safe anchoring in the haven where no storm ever comes. And for you, the orphaned child, the promise stands sure: every man shall bear his own burden, but the burden of poverty, the burden of grief, the burden of heart trouble, these are loads which Christ’s church is commanded to carry for one another. Succor your brethren in their times of need. Light their candle when their house grows dark. The very burden you describe is one laid upon us to bear with you, that you might not be utterly cast down.

Cast off, I beseech you, that slavish fear which dreads some evil about to happen, as though the Father’s hand hid a stone instead of bread. There is a loving fear, the fear of a true child who dreads to grieve so tender a parent, and that fear is healthy. But to shrink from tomorrow as though Christ had not risen, or as though the Father’s covenant love could fail, is to dishonor the Gospel you profess. Come to Christ and get rid of the old burden of your anxiety and your solitary striving. Hand it over to Him who bore the yoke that rested upon the shoulders of the Prince of the kings of the earth. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He does not promise a life without weight, but He promises that His burden, when taken willingly and learned in meekness, becomes light because He shares it. The strong wind of the mighty Spirit blows through the messenger and the sufferer alike, and we are swayed by it, but we are not broken.

Stand then upon the Rock. If you would get rid of the fear of death and the terror of destitution, use the telescope of faith very frequently. Look beyond the dim present to the brightness of the prepared state. Your father, resting in Christ, need have no fear of death. And you, resting in the same Christ, need have no fear of life or of death, of poverty or of loneliness. The Father is with you. The risen and glorified Savior is the great testimony to the righteousness both of Christ and of His Gospel, and in that righteousness you stand complete. Bear the burden of this trial as a man who bears his own load before God, yet lean hard upon your brethren who are called to weep with those who weep. Above all, sink down into the sea of comfort that sustained your Lord: “The Father is with Me.” Go in the strength of God.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The weight of your sorrow is great, and your fear presses upon you like a storm that threatens to tear you from every earthly security. Yet it is precisely in such a storm that the soul must sink its roots deep into the fear and love of God. Your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things, food, shelter, the comfort of your father’s presence. He is not a harsh master but a loving Father who cannot overlook his children in extremity.

Do not let the dread of tomorrow rob you of this truth: the Spirit you received is not a spirit of cowardice, but one of power and of love. Cling to him as the one thing needful. Love your father tenderly, care for him with all your strength, but fix your flesh in the fear of God, so that even if the worst befalls, you are not shaken into hopelessness. Should your earthly father be taken, you will not be fatherless; you will gain a Heavenly Father who proclaims you his own, and you will find a family among those who do his will.

Bear this trial with a resolution fastened to Christ, and you will discover that what seems intolerable becomes the very path to a hope that cannot perish. Turn your cry into prayer, and let your tears water that root until it cleaves so firmly that no storm can uproot it.

The weight you are carrying right now is real, and the fear of losing your father and your home all at once is a crushing burden. It is not weakness to feel this way. Those are the honest cries of a heart that sees the outward circumstances and trembles. Jacob did the same thing when he looked at the money in the sacks and heard the rough demands from Egypt. He saw what his eyes could see, and despair rushed in. But the story did not end there, and your story does not end with what you can see right now either.

There is a Father who knows every detail of your life. Jesus told us that not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father taking note. A sparrow is so common it is almost worthless in our eyes, yet it never escapes His gaze. You are worth more than many sparrows. He sees you running back and forth to care for your dad. He sees the sleepless nights and the fear of what comes next. He is not distant or indifferent. He is the God who numbers the hairs on your head, and He is watching over you with a care that goes deeper than any earthly father's love ever could, deep as that love may be.

Your father is all you have in this world. That is a bond of great love, the same kind of love where a life is bound up in another. Remember how Judah pleaded for Benjamin because their father’s life was bound up in the boy. That love is a picture, a shadow, of the love your heavenly Father has for you. But earthly fathers, even the best of them, are part of a world where everything apart from God is like a vapor. It passes. That emptiness without Him is the vanity the Scriptures speak of. The only solid ground is not an earthly house or an earthly relationship, as precious as they are. The solid ground is being held by the Father Himself. He gives the best of the land, not just a place to live, but Himself as your true home.

You cannot know this Father truly apart from His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus said He is the one who reveals the Father. If you have seen Him, you have seen the Father. He came to show you what God is like, and what He showed was a God who heals broken bodies and mends broken lives. Jesus also said, "I do always those things that please the Father." And what pleases the Father? Mercy. Care for the hurting. Provision for the needy. So you can ask boldly for help, not because you are strong, but because Jesus has opened the way. You come to the throne of grace through Him, and there you find mercy and grace to help in time of need.

The fear that tells you homelessness is a certainty is a liar. That voice speaks from the father of lies who seeks only to destroy. The voice of your true Father says, "Do not fear, for I am with you." He said that to Isaac when he came back to Beersheba, right at the moment he returned to the place of blessing. He says it to you now. His presence dispels fear. That was David’s secret in the valley of the shadow of death. He did not look at the shadows; he looked at the Shepherd beside him. You are not walking this valley alone. The Lord is with you.

Learn of Jesus in this storm He Himself knows what it is to love a father on this earth and to face death. He submitted himself to the will of the Father in a body of limitations, just as you are doing now, caring for your dad in his weak body. He walked through suffering, and He did it to prove His love for the Father and to become your faithful High Priest. He is praying for you right now, interceding, just as He prayed, "Holy Father, keep through thy own name." He is committing the keeping of your life, and your father’s life, into the Father’s hands.

So bring your aching heart to the Father. Tell Him you are scared. Ask Him to provide for every need, for your father’s comfort, for your own strength, and for a clear path ahead. The fear of the Lord, which hates the evil of despair and lies, is the beginning of wisdom. Trusting Him when you cannot see the next step, that is wisdom. Your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. He will not fail you. The chariot is being made ready even now to carry you through, and the pillars are not made of your own effort but of His silver and gold and purple, paved with His love for you.
