Prayers for my Student's Storytelling Competition

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Thank you for your prayers for my persistent, unexplained dizziness last month. I was worried that I had a terminal illness, but it was actually curable by God's grace. Now please join me again in prayer as my ### student competes in storytelling this Friday (###). I am so nervous and pressured because of everyone's expectations. I also feel like we didn't do enough to win anything. But I ask that God would guide her throughout her story. That she will have good retention to remember her lines well, that her story would be memorable, and that the judges and audience would like it. I have been stressing this out for two months now. I also pray for God's peace for me.

We rejoice with you in the healing God has provided from your unexplained dizziness! What a powerful reminder of His faithfulness and grace in our lives. Now, as you lift up your student in this storytelling competition, we stand with you in prayer, trusting that the same God who healed you is more than able to guide her through this moment.

Father, we come before You in Jesus’ name, asking for Your peace to guard the hearts and minds of both this teacher and her student. Lord, we know that anxiety and pressure can weigh heavily, but Your Word tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We ask that You replace fear with faith, doubt with confidence, and stress with Your perfect peace.

For this young storyteller, we pray that You would sharpen her memory so that she recalls every word with clarity. Let her voice be steady, her delivery engaging, and her story a reflection of the creativity You’ve placed within her. May the judges and audience be moved by the message she shares, not because of human effort alone, but because Your Spirit is at work in her presentation. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

We also lift up this teacher, who has carried the weight of expectation for so long. Lord, we ask that You would release her from the burden of perfectionism and remind her that her worth, and the outcome of this competition, rests in You, not in awards or human approval. Help her to remember that You have called her to equip and encourage this student, and that is enough. Colossians 3:23-24 says, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."

Finally, we rebuke the spirit of fear and performance anxiety in Jesus’ name. We declare that this competition is an opportunity to glorify God, not to prove oneself. Whether the outcome is a win or simply the joy of participation, we trust that You will use this experience for Your purposes. May this student and her teacher walk away with hearts full of gratitude, knowing that You are with them every step of the way.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen.

Thank you for sharing how God answered our prayers for your health, what a relief that it was curable by His grace. We’re grateful to hear that, and we’re glad to join you again now as your student steps into the storytelling competition.

Your nervousness makes sense. You care deeply, you’ve carried this pressure for two months, and you feel the weight of everyone’s expectations. But please don’t let the lie that you haven’t done enough rob you of peace. You’ve invested your heart and effort, and God sees that. This moment isn’t just about a trophy; it’s about the courage, growth, and joy that happen along the way, in your student and in you. Sometimes placing an event back into perspective frees us to simply trust the God who holds all outcomes.

As Friday approaches, we can ask Him to calm the anxious swirl and replace it with steady confidence. You don’t have to carry this alone.

Father, we lift up this teacher and her student. Thank You for Your healing grace. Please help the student remember her lines with clarity, and let her story be engaging and memorable. Grant favor with the judges and audience according to Your will. But more than that, fill this teacher with Your peace, the kind that holds steady whether she wins or not. Quiet the inner pressure and guard her mind from the weight of others’ expectations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What cause for thanksgiving you have brought to the house of God! He who sent the dizziness has scattered it by His own hand, and you have tasted that the Lord is good. Yet now, with the same breath, you lift another burden. The student, the competition, the expectations, the long stress of two months, I hear it in your words. But tell me, where is your trust? You say you did not do enough to win; you feel the weight of failure before the word is spoken. Is this the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding? Examine your heart. The God of peace is your Father in Christ Jesus, and He bids you cast every care upon Him. The result does not rest upon your shoulders, nor upon the child’s memory alone. It rests upon the wise Teacher who opens the mouth and teaches the stammerer to speak.

God is the children’s Teacher. Did He not teach David from his youth? Then be sure He will be the true Tutor to this little one in her hour. The lines she must recall, are they not in His hand? The story that must be memorable, cannot the Holy Spirit brand truth upon the hearers’ minds as with a hot iron? And as for the judges and the audience, the hearts of all are in the Lord’s keeping. He can give His child favor in the sight of those who sit in the gate. Your prayer for her retention, for her story’s power, for their liking, these are not small things to be whispered with doubt; they are what a good Father loves to bestow. But you must ask in faith, nothing wavering.

And do I not see that you crave peace for your own soul? Then hear this: peace must not be sought from victory in a competition. That is a false peace, a mirage of the desert. True peace is the gift of the God of peace, founded on the blood of the everlasting covenant. It flows into the heart that trusts in Him and leaves the issue with Him. You have done your part; go and do the right thing no more by tearing yourself to pieces. Leave the result with God. Is He not the one who performs all things for you? Did He not just deliver you from the fear of a mortal illness? How readily we forget the rescue and return to our worrying! In Jesus’ bosom nothing but calm is found, even with sorrows surging round. The peace that He gives is solid, abiding, a peace that conquers the dread of man’s judgment.

I would pray with you now. O God of peace, you have taught this teacher to seek Your face. Now teach this little one in her need. Sharpen her memory, anoint her tongue, set her story as a lamp before that audience. But, Lord, first and chiefly, still the tempest in the soul of this Your servant. Let Your peace garrison his mind. Breathe upon him the calm that comes from trusting a sure arm. May he taste that peace which is Your own nature, peace that rests on the finished work of Christ, not on the fickle smiles of men. And should the day bring what the world counts failure, yet may they both have the peace of God, which is better than all prizes. We ask it in the name of Him who is our Peace. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have been fighting a war against yourself for two long months, and I see you are still tossed about by the waves of anxiety. You said you felt nervous and pressured because of everyone's expectations, and you fear you did not do enough to win. This is the very tempest of the soul that I have often warned against. The worst war is not with others, but when the individual is at war with himself. What advantage is it if the world around you is at peace, if within your own mind curious reasonings and fear of men’s opinions disturb your faith? The peace Christ gives is not like the world’s peace. He said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you.” This is a peace that remains unshaken whether the audience applauds or the judges smile, because it is founded on trust in God alone.

Why do you place such weight on the outcome? The pleasure of winning would only make your soul light and fluttering, a worse thing than sorrow. And if the child does not win, what harm has come to you? Those who are censured by men have no need to be anxious; the danger falls on those who judge. Your true reward is to be freed from this anxiety now, before the contest even begins. He that learns to despise the opinions of the crowd receives his recompense at once: he is delivered from rivalry, fear, and the storm of despondency.

Remember how Peter, in his panic, forgot all the tender care the Lord had shown him, and he sank until he looked to Christ. That look raised him up and launched him into a sea of tears, not of ruin. Cease trusting in your own efforts and commend all to God. He who delivered you from that unexplained dizziness, which you feared was a terminal illness, is the same Lord who governs the tongue and the memory of this child. The healing of your body was a small matter to Him; will He not care for the peace of your soul and for a little story spoken by a child who is in His hands?

Cultivate the beauty that never fades. No earthly competition can give you a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness. That comes only when you place your expectation entirely upon God, who is the giver of all good things. Let us pray not anxiously for success, but for the peace that is the mother of all good things, the foundation of joy. May the God of peace calm this inward war and grant both you and the child a spirit of stillness, so that whether you are seen to have prepared enough or not, you may still glorify Him who works all things for good. I will join my prayer to yours, asking that His peace rule in your heart, and that this Friday you may be able to say from a quiet soul, “Glory to God in the highest.”

The weight you have been carrying these past two months is not light, and you have felt it pressing down in nervousness and pressure. But that burden you describe, the strain of wanting to control every outcome and meet every expectation, is the very kind of heavy load Jesus invites us to set down. He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,” because He knows that striving to please everyone and ensure success will exhaust your soul. His own burden is different: it is light. It is simply to trust Him, to walk uprightly, and to leave the results in His hands. When you depart from that anxious grasping and instead honor the Lord with your cares, His promise is that your paths become marked by peace.

You asked for God’s peace for yourself, and that is exactly the gift He loves to give. A dry crust with quietness of heart is better than a house full of feasting with strife inside. You have been feasting on worry, and it has robbed you of rest. The fear of the Lord, that reverent trust in Him, is what brings health to your body and marrow to your bones. It is not about doing enough to win; promotion does not come from the east or the west, from frantic preparation or human approval. It comes from the Lord. So humble yourself before Him, acknowledging that you and your student are in His care. He can make even those who might seem like critics or impartial judges to be at peace with you, when your ways please Him.

For your student, pray with confidence that the preparations of her heart are from God. The right words, good retention, a story that lingers in the memory, these are not manufactured by mere repetition but by the Lord who directs the heart. He can guide her tongue and steady her mind. When you say, “Lord, guide her throughout her story,” you are asking exactly what He delights to do. He sets a highway for the upright that departs from anxiety and leads to life, and He keeps the foot of those who trust Him from being taken. Do not look to the right or the left, second-guessing what might have been. Fix your eyes straight ahead on His faithfulness. He does not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly; if it is beneficial for her soul and for yours, He will grant it.

So let this Friday be a place where you release the burden. You are not the one who must secure the outcome. You have done right by your student; now entrust her to the One whose wisdom is a tree of life to all who hold fast to it. And you, in letting go, will find that the peace you have been craving is already being set before you. It is not found in a trophy or in the applause of people, but in the quiet confidence that the Lord sees, He hears, and He shall sustain you. Trust Him with those two months of stress, and let His rest wash them away.
