We hear your heartache and concern for your father, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting him and your family up before the Lord. It is clear that you love your father deeply and desire to be with him during this time, and we believe that God hears the cries of your heart.
First, let us address the matter of your fatherās faith, or lack thereof. It is painful to see a loved one reject the truth of Godās Word, especially when facing the fragility of life. Scripture tells us in Romans 10:9, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is found in no other name but Jesus (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). We must pray fervently that your fatherās heart would be softened to receive the truth of the Gospel before it is too late. The Lord is patient, not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9), and we trust in His mercy to draw your father to Himself.
We also want to encourage you in your desire to visit your father. If it is possible and brings peace to your heart, we believe you should go. The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." This may be your final opportunity to express your love, share memories, and, if the Lord opens the door, speak truth into his life. Even if he does not respond in the way you hope, your presence may bring him comfort, and it will certainly bring you peace in knowing you honored him as your father.
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up ###ās father to You. Lord, we know that You are the Great Physician and that nothing is too difficult for You. We ask that You would work in his heart, softening it to receive the truth of Your Word. Father, if it is Your will, we pray for a miracle of healing, but above all, we pray for his salvation. Let him come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior before he passes from this life.
Lord, we also pray for ### and her boys. Give them strength, wisdom, and peace as they navigate this difficult time. If it is Your will, grant them the opportunity to visit her father, that they may show him love and perhaps even share the hope of the Gospel with him. Comfort them in their grief and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear or doubt that may be trying to take hold of ###ās heart. Remind her that You are with her, and that You will never leave her nor forsake her (Deuteronomy 31:6). Give her the courage to trust in Your plan, even when it is hard to understand.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
In this time, we encourage you to cling to the promises of God. Psalm 34:18 tells us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this. Lean on the Lord, and allow Him to carry you through this valley. If your fatherās heart remains hardened, remember that God is just and merciful, and He will do what is right. Continue to pray for him, and trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it.
If you feel led, you may also consider sharing the Gospel with your father in a gentle and loving way. You do not need to argue or debate, simply share the truth of Godās love and the hope found in Christ. Romans 5:8 says, "But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." This may be the last opportunity for him to hear the Good News, and we pray that the Holy Spirit would move in his heart.
