Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the blessings you have given to me. Lord, my kids forget to respect their dad and me. Help us to get past these moments. We join you in lifting up your family before the throne of grace and we thank you for sharing this honest burden with us. We hear the hurt in your words when your children speak disrespectfully and we know how painful it can be when words from those we love most cut deeply. We praise God with you for the blessings He has given and for the godly marriage He has established between you and your husband, and we pray He will strengthen that unity as you navigate these difficult moments together.

Scripture reminds us of God's design for the family. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth. Ephesians 6:1-3 and again Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord. Colossians 3:20. At the same time we are instructed You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 and Fathers, don’t provoke your children, so that they won’t be discouraged. Colossians 3:21. This shows us the balance God calls us to, children learning honor and obedience, and parents leading with patient, loving discipline that points them to Christ.

It is right that you have given this to the Lord, for He cares for you and for your children. Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7. We encourage you to continue to train your children faithfully even when it feels ugly and discouraging, trusting the promise Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6. Hurtful comments often come from immaturity and a heart still being shaped, and they need consistent, calm correction spoken in love. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1. We encourage you and your husband to stand together in unity, to correct in private with gentleness and not in anger, to set clear boundaries for respectful speech, and to model for them the grace and forgiveness you have received in Christ.

We also rejoice that you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for this family, for this wife and mother and for her husband and for the children You have entrusted to them. Lord, You see the hurt that harsh and disrespectful words have caused and You know the weariness that comes from these moments. We ask You to pour out Your peace upon this home and to guard the hearts of this mother and father from bitterness or discouragement. Help them to shepherd their children with wisdom, patience, and loving discipline, not provoking them to wrath but nurturing them in Your instruction. Soften the hearts of these children, Lord, open their eyes to understand the command to honor their father and mother, and give them a spirit of respect, humility, and kindness. Teach them to bridle their tongues and to speak with love. Strengthen the marriage bond between this husband and wife, that they may be one in purpose and encouragement as they raise their children for Your glory. We give this whole situation into Your hands, trusting that You are working even through these painful moments for good. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We are grateful you brought this to the Lord so openly, even while it still feels raw and ugly at home. When hurtful words come from your own children it can leave you and your husband feeling wounded and weary, and we hear how much you want to move past these moments together.

One thing that has helped other families is remembering that respect grows best in a relationship where each person feels valued and heard, and where boundaries are clear and kind. A boundary is simply like a property line that lets you stay connected while also protecting your hearts and making it safe to say yes and no honestly. Family communication also tends to run in patterns, so a hurtful comment is rarely just about that moment, it reflects a habit everyone can gently learn to change.

When things are calm, it may help for you and your husband to agree together on one simple way you will respond when words turn hurtful, perhaps pausing in the moment and returning later to share briefly how the words landed and what respectful speech sounds like in your home. Keeping it short and united keeps the focus on love, not a lecture.

Father, we bring this mom and dad and their children to You. Comfort these parents where words have stung, give them wisdom and unity, and draw their children toward kindness and listening. Guard this home with Your peace and help them all grow in love for one another. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest and tender prayer has been heard, and I join you in bringing this burden before the Lord who pities His children as a father pities his own.

It is a painful thing when words within the home wound the heart, especially from those we love most. The Lord knows this sorrow, for He has dealt with us as with children who are slow to learn to walk, bearing with our mistakes with great patience and teaching us step by step. As it is written, Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him. He does not chide us for every stumble, and He will give you that same patient disposition as you shepherd your children through this season.

There is power in prayer when we abide in Christ and His words abide in us. Continue to rest yourselves upon the words of God, for they are words whereon you may safely rest. Bring His words into your home daily, not only in correction but in attractive words about Christ, speaking of His grace at the table, in prayer, and in quiet moments. Children often rest upon the words of their parents, so let them hear from you both the truth spoken in love and the mercy that you yourselves have received.

Remember also that the Lord calls children to honour their father and mother, and He calls parents not to provoke but to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. This is slow work, and growth often comes through many moments of teaching, forgiving, and bearing with one another. Do not be discouraged when progress seems small. The Lord who taught His people to go is still teaching your family to walk.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the blessings You have given to this family, and for the love that seeks to honour You in the home. You see the hurt caused by disrespectful and wounding words, and You know the ache it brings to a mother and father who long for peace. We ask You to soften the hearts of these children and to teach them to speak with honour and kindness. Grant to this husband and wife unity, wisdom, and patience, that they may speak the truth in love and model Your grace. Heal the wounds that hurtful comments have left, and guard this home from bitterness. Help this family to abide in Christ, that their prayers may be heard and their home may bear much fruit to Your glory. Teach them all to walk in Your ways, and let Your Word dwell richly among them. In the name of Jesus our Saviour we pray, Amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for entrusting your family to the Lord in prayer. It is painful when words from your own children feel disrespectful and hurtful to you and your husband, and it is right to bring that pain to God rather than carrying it alone.

Scripture teaches that children are to honor their father and mother, and that fathers and mothers are to raise their children with patient instruction and not provoke them to anger. That honoring grows over time as you both model steady love and clear boundaries. When hurtful comments come, do not let them make your soul weak or consume you with vexation. The hurt is real, but strength comes from responding with maturity and grace rather than returning hurt for hurt. Be childlike in malice, keeping no grudge, but mature in understanding, speaking truth calmly and consistently.

God also calls us to give thanks in all things and to do all things without murmuring. That does not mean pretending the pain is not there, but choosing gratitude for what God is doing even in difficult moments, and bringing your requests to Him with reverence and trust. Your thankfulness in this prayer is already a pleasing offering to Him.

I join you in prayer now. Heavenly Father, thank you for this family and for your good gifts to them. Comfort this mother and father where they have been wounded by words, and give them wisdom, patience and unity as they guide their children. Work in the hearts of their children to grow in respect, kindness and obedience, and help this whole household to speak to one another in love. Teach them all to bear with one another, to forgive quickly, and to build each other up. Guard this marriage and home, and let your peace rule there. In the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and salvation, Amen.

Continue to pray, to teach gently and firmly, and to love without keeping a record of wrongs. The Lord sees your faithfulness and hears your prayers.
