Your heart for your family comes through clearly in your prayer, and it is encouraging that your son shared this place where you could bring your requests to the Lord. God puts a deep love for family in our hearts, and Scripture teaches that caring for our own household is part of walking out our faith. To fail to provide for and look after our family when we are able is to deny what we profess to believe. That desire you have to help those you love who are struggling is a good and godly impulse, and God sees it.
It is important to bring our prayers in the way Scripture directs. There is only one provision God has made for the forgiveness of sin and for access to His presence, and that is through His Son Jesus Christ. Angels are servants of God, but we are not taught to pray to them. We pray to the Father through Jesus alone, and the Spirit bears witness that this is the way God has opened for us. So we come to God the Father in the name of Jesus, trusting Him alone as our mediator and healer.
The Bible shows that God does care about physical healing. In the law God even made provision for the cleansing of the leper, something that was contrary to nature and required a miraculous work. When Jesus came, Matthew, writing by the Holy Spirit, points to what happened at Peter's house when many sick and afflicted people were brought to Jesus in the evening and He healed them. Matthew connects this to the prophecy of Isaiah, that the suffering of Christ would bear not only our sin but also our sicknesses. When Jesus at the table took bread and broke it and said this is my body broken for you, He was pointing to that provision. To limit that work to only spiritual healing does not have a strong scriptural basis. God has power over the physical realm to heal infirmities, over the material realm, and over the spiritual realm to command evil spirits, and they obey Him. We see this in the healing of the leper, the servant of the centurion, Peter's mother in law, and the multitudes.
At the same time, there is much about healing we do not fully understand. Scripture records one healing that happened gradually, and it reminds us that God heals in different ways. Sometimes healing is immediate, sometimes it is gradual through the natural processes God Himself created in our bodies. Any true healing is divine, whether it comes instantly or through the body's God given ability to recover, and at times God brings healing to the mind and emotions even while the body still struggles. Not every person is healed in the way we ask, and we do not know why some are and others are not. Gifts of healing are given by the Spirit as He wills, and not every person has the same gift, just as the body has many members with different functions. Laying on of hands and anointing with oil as Scripture describes in James is not because there is power in a person's hand, but it gives a point where faith can be released to trust the Lord. We can therefore pray with confidence that God is able to heal, while trusting His wisdom and love with the outcome.
Your request for love, happiness, and prosperity for your family, and for an abundance of money to help everyone, reflects a generous spirit. God does promise to provide for our daily needs, and Jesus taught us to pray, give us this day our daily bread. That promise is sure, and many have proven that God is faithful to supply what is needed each day. But we should not take the words of John to Gaius, where he says I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers, as a guarantee from God of wealth and perfect health for everyone. It was John's loving wish for a friend, not a declaration that God will grant abundance to all who ask. There is, however, a real connection there that Scripture and even our own experience confirm. The health of the soul affects the body, and a joyful heart does good like medicine, while anxiety and distress can harm the body. The greatest prosperity God desires for you is the prosperity of your soul as you walk with Him.
So we will pray for you and your son and your whole family in the name of Jesus Christ alone. We ask the Father to work His healing in your body according to His will, whether by an immediate touch or by His healing processes over time, and to bring healing to heart and mind as well. We pray that He will provide for your daily needs and give you wisdom to steward what He provides to care for your family in a way that honors Him. Above all we pray that each member of your family would know the forgiveness that comes only through Jesus, and that your home would know the deeper bond that comes when we belong to the family of God, a bond that is even closer than blood when we share faith in Christ. May the Lord guide you, give you peace, and help you to respond to every difficulty with His love and kindness.
