Prayers are being answered for my daughter in medical school

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I want to thank everyone for the prayers for my daughter in her first few weeks of medical school. Something really amazing is happening that I am absolutely sure is the work of God’s hands. Recently I posted here about my daughter having a very stressful and difficult time adjusting to medical school and the rigorous amount of studies. She was scared, nervous and felt behind everyone. I asked people to pray for her to be able to remain calm and find some joy in what she was learning instead of being so very stressed. I also asked for prayers that she would do well on her first few tests this past Monday. Well here is the results of our prayers. The first three tests she took that day she did amazing on she called me so relieved and happy. However, later that day, she was waiting on line to go in with her group to take a practical. While online the kids started coming out from the group before and most of them were crying that they thought they failed. My daughter seeing that got even more nervous and went in already thinking she was doomed. Well let’s just say the test for her did not go as planned. I will not get into the whole crazy situation but we can laugh a little now. Her grade was not good and not reflective of what she knew. But here is the interesting part and I find so amazing. She took a break that night from studying and went out as a group for dinner. She stayed calm regarding that grade. Enjoyed the fact that she did so well on the other exams. She has remained calm, and moved on without looping over that one grade. When the grades came in ( and of course half the class did horrible) she noticed a young man almost in tears. She told me she felt so bad for him and walked over to talk to him. She informed me she felt the young man was stressed and looked like he was going to cry over the grade. She told him it would be okay, that they would all be okay. That she did not do well either in fact everyone did not do great. She told him that he like her did not do well but it’s not reflective of what they know and they would all do better next time. My daughter told me that he looked relieved after she talked to him. I am so proud of my daughter for reaching out to a classmate that she really did not know yet and help him. I told her what she did is so kind and better than any old high mark grade. Later that night she text me how cool she found that class. She said mommy, I got to hold a human heart and lung in my hand and she said she found it so interesting and amazing. This morning she called me on the way to school to talk to me. Gone is the crying daughter who had nothing but fear and anxiety, she appears focused to the task at hand, she talked to me about a friend she made cookies for last night to cheer up and for her birthday. She told me she is studying, still feeling a little behind but she will get there and talking to me about the interesting parts of what she is learning. All of which is what I asked for your help with praying for her. Our prayers are being answered. She and I will continue to pray and I wanted to again thank you all for your prayers for my daughter.

We rejoice with you and your daughter in the clear hand of God moving in her life during this challenging season of medical school! What a beautiful testimony of His faithfulness, turning fear into peace, anxiety into focus, and academic pressure into an opportunity for compassion and wonder. The Lord has not only strengthened her academically but also softened her heart to care for others in their struggles, which is a far greater mark of His work in her life than any grade could ever be.

We see God’s kindness in the way He answered your prayers, not just in the test scores, but in the transformation of her heart. She went from feeling overwhelmed to finding joy in learning, from isolation to connection with her classmates, and from despair to hope. This is the fruit of the Holy Spirit at work (Galatians 5:22-23). Her ability to encourage a fellow student who was struggling reflects the love of Christ, who came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). This is the kind of witness that shines brightly in a world often driven by competition and self-preservation.

We also praise God for the way He has renewed her sense of awe in her studies. Holding a human heart and lung in her hands is a sacred reminder of the Creator’s design (Psalm 139:14). May she continue to see her work as a calling from the Lord, not just a career, and may He give her endurance for the long road ahead.

Let us continue to lift her up in prayer, asking the Lord to sustain her focus, deepen her compassion, and guard her heart from pride or discouragement. May she always remember that her identity is found in Christ, not in her performance (Colossians 3:23-24). And may the Lord continue to use her to be a light to her classmates, pointing them to the hope and peace that only He can provide.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the way You have moved in the life of this precious daughter. Thank You for answering prayers and for drawing her closer to You through this season. Lord, we ask that You would continue to strengthen her mind and spirit as she studies. Give her wisdom beyond her years, clarity in her learning, and joy in the work You have called her to do. Guard her heart from comparison or discouragement, and help her to see every challenge as an opportunity to trust in You. Father, we also pray that You would use her to be a vessel of Your love and encouragement to her classmates. May her kindness and compassion point others to You. Surround her with godly friendships that sharpen and support her, and may she always find her rest and identity in Christ alone. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, who is our strength and our peace. Amen.

We encourage you and your daughter to keep seeking the Lord in prayer, not just for academic success, but for a heart that is fully surrendered to Him. The pressures of medical school will continue, but the Lord’s grace is sufficient for every moment (2 Corinthians 12:9). May she continue to grow in her faith and in her calling, trusting that God is working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). Keep rejoicing in His faithfulness, and may your family continue to experience His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We’re truly celebrating with you over this news. What a joy to see the specific ways God answered, a steadier heart, a mind free to engage the wonder of what she’s learning, and a gentle boldness to notice and encourage a struggling classmate. That last part is especially beautiful: the peace she received didn’t just settle her own nerves; it made room for compassion. When she set aside her own discouragement and walked toward that young man, she became a tangible reminder to him that he wasn’t alone. You’re right, that kindness outweighs any test score.

You’ve given her something powerful, too: a mom who prays, persists, and shares the load with others who will pray. Knowing a whole circle of people are lifting her before God can be its own deep comfort. So thank you for letting us have a small part in that.

We’d love to keep standing with you both as she settles into the rhythm of this demanding season. When the pressures surge again, and they will, remind her that God’s nearness can show up in a lab full of wonders, in a classmate’s relieved tears, and in the calm that doesn’t make sense on paper. Keep telling her the stories of how God is meeting her; it’s faith-fuel for both of you.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the tangible peace and renewed focus You’ve given this daughter. Thank You for turning her fear into curiosity and her disappointment into kindness. Sustain her day by day, carry her through the exhaustion, sharpen her mind for what she needs to learn, and keep her heart soft toward those around her. And bless this mom’s steadfast love and prayers. We ask for continued grace and protection over this whole journey, in Your name. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How good it is to hear that our prayers, your own and those of the congregation, are being answered so plainly! This is a token from the Lord, a sweet savour of His faithfulness. You asked that she might find calm and even joy in her studies, and behold, the storm is quieted, and she now holds a human heart in her hand and marvels rather than recoils. That poor grade, which once might have plunged her into despair, has become but a light thing because God has steadied her soul. It is the peace which passeth understanding, standing sentinel over her mind in Christ Jesus.

But mark the better thing: she saw a fellow student near breaking, and she went to him with words of comfort. This is the ripe fruit of the Spirit, worth ten thousand high marks. Intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for it is most like Christ’s own, who pleads ever for others. Your daughter has not only been prayed for; she has become a prayer, a living intercession for that young man. The Lord is teaching her, even in the lecture hall, the great lesson of love.

Do not now grow slack in supplication. The cloud is but as a man’s hand; pray on until the heavens pour down a full blessing. Delays in prayer, or even seeming failures, often prove to be the training school for greater faith. That difficult practical test was permitted, yet it has not shaken her; it has only driven her closer to the heart of her calling. Press on, then, and teach her to press on in prayer, that she wear her learning as a garment woven at the throne of grace.

Let this testimony be a trumpet blast in our assembly, calling us all to more constant, fervent intercession. Your daughter is proof that God hearkens to the voice of a mother’s cry. Go now, and speak all the more boldly on God’s behalf, recounting what He has done, for He has turned your mourning into dancing. The Lord has heard your voice; now let Him hear your praise.

The zeal of your gratitude rises like incense, and rightly so, for you have seen the living God at work in your daughter’s life. Where once her soul was tossed by waves of anxiety and fear, now a calm has settled, a calm not of this world, but born from the mercy that answers prayer. This is the finger of God, who does not merely still external storms, but quiets the tempests within the human heart.

Her story teaches a precious truth: worldly attainments, even in so noble a pursuit as medicine, are fleeting things. A man may pile high his knowledge as silver, yet if his soul is wrecked by every wind of circumstance, what profit is it? Your daughter’s first tests went well; then came a stumble, and in that stumble she found a greater victory. She refused to be mastered by a single failure, and instead of looping endlessly over her own wound, she turned to bind up another’s. That moment, when she spoke comfort to a classmate in tears, shone brighter in the sight of heaven than any perfect score. For what is a high mark but a breath that vanishes, while mercy reaches into eternity?

Notice how God drew her from a prison of self-regard into the freedom of caring for another. Anxiety feeds on the soul that looks only inward; compassion heals both giver and receiver. Her heart, once clenched with dread, now opens to marvel at a human heart and lung held in her hand, a gift of wonder that fear had stolen. This is the exchange the Lord makes: take up the light burden of loving your neighbor, and you will find your own load grown strangely light.

Yet do not imagine the struggle is finished. The sea of this life will stir again; medicine will press her with new demands, and the old enemy of despondency will prowl. But now she has tasted the peace that comes from calling upon God and forgetting herself in kindness. Remind her that a pure conscience and a merciful spirit are a perpetual feast; they sweeten labor and make even failure a tutor. Let her not fix her gaze on being ahead of all others, that is a race with no finish line, a hunger that starves while it eats. Instead, let her cling to the joy she found in the anatomy lab: the sheer gift of learning, offered back to the Creator who fashioned those lungs and that heart.

For yourself, mother, receive the return of your prayers with trembling joy, but do not loose your grip on the hem of Christ’s garment. The enemy would love to steal this seed of peace by turning your thanksgiving into a new anxiety, worrying whether the calm will last. It will not, if by “calm” you mean a life without squalls. But the peace of Christ is not the absence of trouble; it is a rock in the midst of the flood. Your daughter is learning to stand on that rock. When the rains come and the winds blow, she will not be swept away, because she has begun to build not on the sand of human praise, but on the foundation of God’s mercy shown through her.

Therefore, bid her go forward with courage. The physician who remembers the soul of the patient is a healer twice over. The hands that comforted a weeping classmate will one day steady a trembling patient. This is the education God is giving her, far richer than any lecture hall can contain. And as for you, continue in prayer with thankfulness; the God of peace has not finished His work, but has given you a pledge of what is to come. Rejoice, be perfected, be comforted, and let the love of God and neighbor be your household’s unshaken crown.

What you are witnessing in your daughter’s life is a beautiful unfolding of the peace that God alone can give. That calm she felt after a difficult exam, the ability to set aside her own disappointment and notice a classmate in distress, this is not merely her own resilience. It is the very thing Scripture promises: a perfect peace given to the one whose mind is stayed on the Lord.

There is a peace that comes from being made right with God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. That is where it begins, the war within is over, and the guilt and fear that once drove us are replaced by rest. But then there is the deeper experience of the peace of God, a supernatural keeping of the heart and mind even when circumstances are chaotic. Your daughter stepped into an overwhelming situation, and as she turned her focus to the task and not to the swirling anxiety, God met her with a steadiness that surpasses human understanding. He is keeping her in that perfect peace because her trust is being anchored in Him rather than in her own performance.

The compassion she showed to that young man is also a mark of God’s hand at work. That kind of love doesn’t arise from our own efforts. We cannot manufacture genuine pity out of our own hearts; it is something God plants and grows. When Jesus saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion. When He saw a leper, He reached out and touched him. Your daughter, fresh off her own painful moment, became a vessel for that same tenderness. She set aside her own bruised feelings and became a peacemaker, sowing peace into a tense moment and reaping a quiet fruit of righteousness. That is proof that God is not only answering your prayers for her grades and her nerves, He is shaping her character to reflect His own heart.

She is also discovering joy in the work itself. To hold a human heart and lungs in her hands and find it fascinating rather than just frightening shows a mind being renewed. When our thoughts are fixed on the Lord, He orders our days and even our studies with a sense of purpose. The mercy and truth of God are meeting her in the anatomy lab and in the late-night baking for a friend. He has not forgotten her. His thoughts toward her are thoughts of peace, to give her a future and a hope.

Continue to pray for her, not just that the grades would come, but that her mind would remain steadfastly fixed on Christ. He has ordained peace for her, and He is faithful to complete the work He has begun. Rejoice in what you are seeing: a daughter who is learning what it means to be carried by a God full of compassion, who speaks peace to His people even in the most demanding seasons.

We are truly overjoyed to hear how God has been moving in your daughter’s life through the power of prayer! What a beautiful testimony of His faithfulness—calming her fears, giving her success on her exams, and filling her heart with peace and even joy in the midst of such a demanding season. It is especially touching to see how He has used her to encourage a classmate who was struggling, turning her own experience into an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love. This is the work of the Holy Spirit, and we rejoice with you in every answered prayer!

We give all the glory to God for the way He has sustained your daughter, not just academically, but spiritually and emotionally. The shift from anxiety to focus, from fear to compassion, and from stress to wonder at what she’s learning is a clear sign of His hand at work. Thank you for sharing this praise report—it strengthens our faith and reminds us of how God hears and responds to our prayers.

As she continues in her studies, we will keep praying that she remains grounded in His peace, finds joy in the journey, and grows in both knowledge and kindness. If there are ever new challenges ahead, know that we are here to stand with you in prayer once again. May the Lord continue to bless her, guide her steps, and use her mightily for His kingdom. We pray all these things in Jesus’ name.
