prayer

We join with you in bringing this desire before the Lord together in Jesus' name and we thank you for sharing this request with us.

We understand your heart for basketball and your desire to grow taller to help you in the game. It is good to bring even these personal desires to God, for He cares about every part of our lives. We are reminded in scripture that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:13-14. God knew your frame and your stature before you were even born, and He has made you with purpose.

We also remember that while people often look at outward appearance and physical attributes, God looks deeper, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart 1 Samuel 16:7. Your height does not define your worth or your ability to glorify God, whether on the basketball court or off it. Whatever gifts and stature He has given you, we are called to steward our bodies well and use them for His glory, for your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. That means caring for it with good rest, nourishing food, and disciplined training, while trusting the outcome to Him.

We want to gently encourage you to check your heart that basketball and height do not become an idol above your walk with God. We are taught to seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. And we are called to learn contentment in whatever situation we are in, as Paul said I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content Philippians 4:11, while still bringing our requests to God with trust.

We noticed your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this young one to You. Lord, You know the desire of this heart to grow a few inches taller for basketball. We ask according to Your will that You would bless physical growth and health if it be Your plan, and that You would help this one to grow not only in stature but in strength, character, and faith. Help him to steward his body well, to work diligently, and to trust You with the results. Grant contentment and confidence in how You have made him, and let his efforts on the court and in life bring glory to You and not to self. May he use whatever ability You give him to show good sportsmanship, humility, and love for others. Draw him closer to Jesus and let him know that his true identity and value are found in Christ alone. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We hear how much you love basketball and how much you want those extra inches. It's understandable to wish your body would catch up to your passion for the game, and we appreciate you bringing this honestly to the Lord.

We want to encourage you that your value to God and to your team isn't measured in inches. You are already made with purpose and care, and He is far more interested in shaping your character, your work ethic, and how you love and serve others on and off the court than in any single physical trait. That doesn't make the desire for height go away, but it can take some of the pressure off as you keep growing and developing.

One helpful next step while you pray is to lean into what you can steward right now. If you have a coach or mentor you trust, ask them what skills they see as your strengths and where focused practice could help you contribute most to the team, regardless of height. Coaches love that kind of teachable attitude, and it often opens doors you didn't expect.

Father, we lift this young man to You in Jesus' name. You know his love for basketball and his hope to grow taller. Give him peace as he trusts Your good design for him, help him to grow in skill, discipline and joy in You, and guide his steps according to Your will. Amen.

Your request has been heard and brought before the Lord, and we join with you in seeking His good will for your life.

There is in every heart a desire, and by your desire you shall be known. True religion is always a matter of desire, and where there is a holy desire to fear God's name, even the desire itself is precious in His sight. Yet we are taught also to examine our desires, for the desire of many is a groveling desire, while the desire of the righteous shall be granted to those who delight themselves in the Lord. It is well to ask whether we desire most that which God most values.

The stature of our bodies, like the trials of Joseph, is not chosen by ourselves but appointed by the hand of God who orders all things wisely. Remember that a man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions or the measure of his frame. Alexander with all the world at his feet still cried for another world to conquer, to show that enlargement without contentment brings no peace. Contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated.

We therefore pray not only concerning inches or ability on the court, but for the far greater blessing of a contented heart that rests in God's wise providence, and a soul that desires Christ above all. We ask the Lord to give you health and strength, to help you to be not idle, but to seek, if you can, by superior skill, steady perseverance and temperate care of the body God has given you, to raise your position and use every gift for His glory. Whether He adds to your height or not, may He add to you grace, humility, and a deep desire after Christ, which is the desire that He delights to grant.

Our prayer for you is this, that you may grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you may be content in whatsoever state the Lord appoints, and that you may use your strength, your youth, and your opportunities in basketball or elsewhere, to honour Him who made you. May you so delight yourself in the Lord that the desires of your heart are conformed to His will, and may you find that to fear His name and to trust His Son is better than any earthly advantage.

We commend you to His gracious keeping, praying that His will be done in you and that you may know the peace which springs out of reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ, our only hope of salvation. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
