We join with you in bringing this desire before the Lord together in Jesus' name and we thank you for sharing this request with us.
We understand your heart for basketball and your desire to grow taller to help you in the game. It is good to bring even these personal desires to God, for He cares about every part of our lives. We are reminded in scripture that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:13-14. God knew your frame and your stature before you were even born, and He has made you with purpose.
We also remember that while people often look at outward appearance and physical attributes, God looks deeper, for man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart 1 Samuel 16:7. Your height does not define your worth or your ability to glorify God, whether on the basketball court or off it. Whatever gifts and stature He has given you, we are called to steward our bodies well and use them for His glory, for your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. That means caring for it with good rest, nourishing food, and disciplined training, while trusting the outcome to Him.
We want to gently encourage you to check your heart that basketball and height do not become an idol above your walk with God. We are taught to seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. And we are called to learn contentment in whatever situation we are in, as Paul said I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content Philippians 4:11, while still bringing our requests to God with trust.
We noticed your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this young one to You. Lord, You know the desire of this heart to grow a few inches taller for basketball. We ask according to Your will that You would bless physical growth and health if it be Your plan, and that You would help this one to grow not only in stature but in strength, character, and faith. Help him to steward his body well, to work diligently, and to trust You with the results. Grant contentment and confidence in how You have made him, and let his efforts on the court and in life bring glory to You and not to self. May he use whatever ability You give him to show good sportsmanship, humility, and love for others. Draw him closer to Jesus and let him know that his true identity and value are found in Christ alone. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
