We join you in giving thanks for the goodness of the Lord, for His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness endures forever. We praise God with you for your heart of gratitude and we stand with you in prayer for each of these needs.
We lift up your desire for good rest. The Lord knows our frame and that we need sleep to be restored. Psalm 127:2 says It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. We pray the Lord will quiet your mind and grant you deep, peaceful and restorative sleep as you cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you as taught in 1 Peter 5:7.
We also bring your wife before the throne of grace. We thank God for your marriage, for marriage between a man and a woman is holy and ordained by God as a lifelong covenant, and we pray you will continue to cherish and honor her as Christ loves the church. We pray for her health and healing, that the Lord will strengthen her body and renew her. 3 John 1:2 says Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. And Exodus 15:26 reminds us that He is Yahweh who heals us. We ask for His healing hand upon her and for peace for you both as you trust Him together.
We pray for protection over your loved one you mentioned, that the Lord will be a shield about them. Psalm 121:7-8 says Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. We ask for His angels to encamp around them and keep them in all their ways.
We bring your financial needs and the car issue to the Father as well. He knows every practical burden and He cares about the details of our lives. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We pray for financial favor, for wisdom to steward what He has provided, and for a cost effective and honest solution for your car, that God will guide you to the right people and provision.
We especially want to commend you for your honesty in bringing your struggle against lustful thoughts into the light, and we want to lovingly and firmly address this with you. Our Lord calls us to purity of heart and mind. Matthew 5:28 says But I tell you, that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Lust is not harmless, it is sin that must be repented of and brought under the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Job made a covenant with his eyes, as in Job 31:1, and we are called to do the same, to flee from temptation and to renew our minds. Romans 12:2 says Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. We encourage you to guard your eyes and your heart, to fill your mind with Scripture, to stay accountable in your marriage, and to cherish the intimacy God has given solely within your marriage covenant. If you have entertained these thoughts, confess them quickly to God and turn from them, for 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We noticed your prayer was addressed to the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to always come to God in the name of Jesus, trusting in His finished work on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins and for eternal life. If you have not already, place your full trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, believing He died for your sins and rose again.
So together we pray, Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy toward us. We thank You for this brother and for his grateful heart. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to grant him sweet and deep rest, to lay Your healing and strengthening hand upon his wife, to surround his loved one with Your divine protection, to provide financially and to grant wisdom and favor for a cost effective solution to his car needs. We confess before You the struggle with lustful thoughts and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Give him strength to take every thought captive, to flee temptation, to fix his eyes on You and to love his wife purely as You intended. Fill his mind with what is true, honorable, just, pure and lovely as in Philippians 4:8. Help him to walk in the Spirit so he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
