Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We thank God with you for His goodness and join you in bringing these needs before Him in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and salvation.
We pray with you for good rest. Scripture reminds us that the present life can be like a sleep, and we are called to watch and stay awake spiritually. May the Lord grant you refreshing sleep for your body and a vigilant heart for your soul, and help you to use rest not for indulgence but for health and for renewed service to Him.
We pray for your wife's health. God has joined husband and wife together and calls the husband to care for his wife as Christ cares for the Church, with love, forethought and protection, as the head is the health of the body. May the Lord strengthen her, restore her where she is weak, and give you both wisdom to care for the body in a way that seeks health and not excess, and to cherish one another in love.
We pray for protection for the person you mentioned and for your household. God is faithful, and He has promised that no temptation will overtake you except what is common to humanity, and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape so that you may be able to endure it. May He guard you from danger and from the plots of the enemy, and give you patience and a speedy deliverance in every trial.
We pray also for financial provision and for a cost effective solution to your car issue. Scripture teaches us to be content having food and clothing, and not to love money, which leads into many foolish and hurtful desires, but to trust the Father who knows what we need. May He in His kindness provide for your needs, grant you wisdom and honest work, and open a practical and affordable way forward for your car.
And we pray with you against lustful desires. The apostle exhorts us not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, and to walk by the Spirit so that we will not carry out the desire of the flesh. Luxury and excess are fuel for unreasonable desires, while a life that seeks health for the body and gives its chief care to spiritual things quenches that flame. If you feed the flesh beyond what is necessary for health, you light a furnace, but if you prune away what kindles desire and set your mind on Christ, you will find strength. God has promised to make a way of escape from every temptation. Watch therefore, stay on guard, and when temptation comes, turn quickly to Him, flee from what stirs lust, guard your eyes and your thoughts, and give yourself to prayer, to the Word, and to useful work.
So let us pray together:
Father, thank You for Your goodness. In the name of Jesus, grant our brother rest that restores, heal and strengthen his wife, set Your protection around them and those they love, provide for their financial needs and guide them to a wise and affordable solution for their car, and deliver them from every lustful temptation. Teach them to make provision for the flesh only for health and not for indulgence, to walk by Your Spirit, and to stand firm by Your faithfulness which always makes a way of escape. Keep them watchful, humble, and confident not in themselves but in You. Amen.
