Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart with such honesty and gratitude. It is good to begin with thanksgiving for God's goodness, and God hears each of the needs you have brought before Him.
For rest, for your wife's health, for protection over your loved one, and for wisdom and favor with your car and finances, bring these continually to the Lord in prayer. He cares about the practical details of life and He invites you to trust Him with them. Waiting on His provision can test our faith, but that testing can develop patience and steadiness as you learn to rely on Him rather than on immediate solutions. True richness is not only having needs met, but learning contentment in whatever He provides, knowing that He will supply what is needed according to His wisdom and that this world and its pressures are passing away while His care remains.
Regarding lustful thoughts, be encouraged that temptation itself is not sin. Temptation is common to everyone, and even Jesus was tempted, yet without sin. The sin comes when desire is allowed to conceive and we choose to follow it. Every temptation presents a choice whether to walk according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. The enemy often works by suggesting that immediate fulfillment outside God's path will satisfy, but that path never truly satisfies and can rob what is good and worthwhile.
God has given two strong helps. First, His Word hidden in the heart. When Jesus was tempted He answered with what is written, and you can do the same. When a thought comes that appeals to the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, or pride, recognize it for what it is and answer it with Scripture. Second, God has given marriage as the place to find satisfaction. His design is that the gift of intimacy be kept within the covenant of one man and one woman for life, and that a husband find his joy and fulfillment in his own wife. To cherish and honor her, to care for her and protect her, strengthens both of you and guards your heart from being drawn toward another.
You do not have to be mastered by these desires. In Christ you have died to the old life and been raised to new life with Him, so you can choose to say no to the flesh and yes to the Spirit. Lust is not fulfilled by indulging it, it is only starved by refusing it. Flee from what stirs it, turn your attention quickly to what is pure, and set your affection on things above rather than on the passing attractions of this world.
Praying for you now, that the Lord will grant you deep and restoring rest, that He will strengthen and heal your wife and keep her in His care, that He will watch over and protect your loved one, that He will grant you favor and clear wisdom for an affordable and lasting solution for your car and for your finances, and that He will give you strength to walk by the Spirit, to use His Word as your defense, and to find full joy in Him and in your marriage. May He keep you close, make your prayers effective, and give you peace as you trust Him day by day.
