We join you in thanking the Lord for His goodness and we lift your requests together before Him in Jesus' name. We are grateful for your heart that desires rest, health for your wife, protection for your loved one whose name was redacted for privacy, and victory over lustful thoughts.
We praise God for the gift of marriage and we affirm your marriage as honorable and good in His sight. Marriage is to be held in honor among all and the marriage bed undefiled, as we read in Hebrews 13:4. It is beautiful that you are interceding for your wife's health. We pray with you for her healing and for the cyst to dissolve. The Lord is our healer and He cares for every part of our bodies. As it is written, Bless Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases in Psalm 103:2-3, and But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought our peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed in Isaiah 53:5. We also remember that He gives rest to His beloved, for He gives sleep to his beloved in Psalm 127:2, and Jesus invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest in Matthew 11:28. We ask Him to grant you deep, peaceful and restorative rest, free from anxiety, as you cast your cares on Him, for the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:7.
We also join you in praying for protection for your loved one. We ask the Lord to be a refuge and fortress, as He promises in Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. And we trust that the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one in 2 Thessalonians 3:3.
We want to lovingly and firmly address your struggle against lustful thoughts, for this is a battle many face and God calls us to purity. Jesus taught, everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28. Lustful thoughts, when entertained, are sin and they do not align with God's will for us, whether we are married or single. Within marriage, sexual intimacy is holy and good, but lust that objectifies others or desires what God has not given us defiles the heart. Scripture exhorts us to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5. We are to fix our minds on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report in Philippians 4:8. We encourage you to not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind in Romans 12:2, by hiding His word in your heart that you might not sin against Him in Psalm 119:11, by making no provision for the flesh, and by seeking accountability with a trusted Christian brother, confessing and turning from sin quickly, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us in Psalm 51:10 is our daily cry, and as we submit to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us in James 4:7.
We noticed you addressed your prayer to Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. To be saved we must confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead in Romans 10:9. It is by His shed blood that our prayers are heard and our sins forgiven, so we always come boldly before the throne of grace in His name.
We now pray together.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You with thanksgiving for Your goodness and mercy. We ask You to grant our brother good, deep and peaceful rest, to quiet his mind and renew his strength. We lift up his wife to You, asking for Your healing hand upon her, that You would cause the cyst to dissolve and restore her to full health according to Your will, for You are the Lord who heals us. We place his loved one into Your hands and ask for Your divine protection, that You would guard and keep this person from all harm and evil, and surround them with Your angels. We confess before You the struggle with lustful thoughts and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. Help him to take every thought captive to Christ, to flee from temptation, to fix his eyes on Jesus, and to walk in purity and in honor toward his wife and toward all people. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may bear the fruit of self-control and live in a way that honors his marriage covenant. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in the Word, to rest in His promises, to love your wife faithfully and cherish your marriage as a picture of Christ's love for the church, and to walk in the freedom and victory that Christ has purchased for you. God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13.
