We join you in thanking God for his goodness and in bringing these needs before him with you.
We pray for you and for your wife, asking our heavenly Father to grant you true rest, to bring healing to your wife and cause the cyst to dissolve, and to restore her to full health according to his mercy. We ask for his protection over you and over your loved ones, that he would keep you in safety under his care.
We also stand with you in your desire to be free from lustful thoughts. Scripture calls us to watch and be sober, for spiritual sleep and drunkenness of the soul come not by nature but by our own choices, and every sin including carnal lust is like a drunkenness that clouds the mind and makes us see things as in a dream rather than as they truly are. God does not want us to be passive and simply sleep, nor to try to overcome in our own strength alone, but to labor earnestly while casting all upon him. So we encourage you to keep sowing in good ground, to cast the fire of the Spirit among any thorns, to make a hard heart soft and yielding, and to move away from exposed places where thoughts can plunder you into more sheltered places of prayer, the Word, and wholesome fellowship. As time goes on, be more watchful, shaking off evil sleep and worldly thoughts that lead to spiritual drowsiness.
Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we thank you for your goodness. We ask you to give rest to your child, to heal his wife and remove this cyst, and to grant her health and strength. Place your protecting hand upon this household and keep them from harm. Give a watchful and sober heart, cleanse the mind from lustful thoughts, and fill it with what is pure and good. Teach us to work faithfully and to trust you fully, knowing you humble us and train us in love. Lead us in holiness and keep us awake for the day that is coming. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
