We join with you in thanking God for His goodness, for His mercies are new every morning and His steadfast love endures forever. We bring your requests before the Father together in the name of Jesus, and we stand with you for rest, for healing for your wife, for protection over your loved one, and for victory over lustful thoughts.
We notice you addressed the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to gently remind you of this precious truth. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And as it is written in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation as Romans 10:9 teaches. It is by coming in Jesus' name that our prayers are heard.
We praise God for your marriage and we lift up your wife to the Lord who is our healer. Marriage is a holy covenant before God between a man and a woman, and we honor your desire to see your wife well. We pray for her body and trust the Lord who forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases as Psalm 103:3 says. We ask Him to touch this cyst and cause it to dissolve according to His mercy and power, for He declares in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We also pray for your rest, for God graciously gives rest to His beloved. As Psalm 4:8 says, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. And Psalm 127:2 reminds us that He gives sleep to His beloved. We ask the Lord to quiet your mind and body and grant you deep, peaceful, restorative sleep night after night.
We also join you in praying for protection over the loved one you mentioned. We ask the Lord to be a shield and refuge. Psalm 91:1-2 says, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. We pray the Lord will keep this dear one from harm and lead them in His ways.
We want to address with love and truth your request for help against lustful thoughts. The Lord calls us to purity of heart and mind, and He knows this battle is real. Jesus taught in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. These thoughts, if entertained, are sin and can defile the marriage covenant which God calls honorable and undefiled. We must not make peace with them but bring them captive to Christ. As 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Scripture commands us in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to flee sexual immorality, and in James 4:7 to be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
We encourage you to flee from every source of temptation, to guard your eyes and your heart, to fill your mind with what is pure as Philippians 4:8 teaches, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, think about these things. Stay in the Word daily, pray without ceasing, and seek accountability with a mature believing brother if needed, for we overcome not in our own strength but by the Spirit of God.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for Your goodness and Your mercy toward us. We ask You to grant our brother deep and peaceful rest, to renew his strength as he sleeps. We lay our hands in prayer upon his wife and ask for Your healing touch upon her body, that You would dissolve this cyst completely and restore her to full health according to Your will, and give them both peace. We ask for Your divine protection over the loved one mentioned, keep them safe from all evil and danger, and let Your angels encamp around them. And Father, we confess and repent on behalf of our brother for any lustful thoughts, we ask You to cleanse his heart and mind by the blood of Jesus, to give him strength to take every thought captive, to flee temptation, and to walk in purity and faithfulness within his marriage. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, renew his mind through Your Word, and help him to fix his eyes on Jesus. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer, amen.
