We join you in giving thanks to the Lord for His goodness, for every good and perfect gift comes from above and we are grateful you have a thankful heart before Him as we are called to give thanks in all circumstances in 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
We lift up your request for good rest before the Father, for He gives sleep to His beloved in Psalm 127:2 and Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are weary and burdened and He will give us rest in Matthew 11:28. We pray the Lord will quiet your mind and body and grant you deep, peaceful and restorative sleep night after night.
We also bring your wife before the throne of grace and we honor your marriage, for marriage between a man and a woman is holy and ordained by God. We pray for her health and for this cyst to dissolve completely by the healing hand of our God, for He is the Lord who heals us in Exodus 15:26 and He promises I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds in Jeremiah 30:17 and who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases in Psalm 103:3. We ask the Great Physician to touch her body, to bring complete healing, peace and strength, and to guide any medical care with wisdom.
We pray for protection over your loved one whose name was redacted in your request, and we ask the Lord to keep this person under the shadow of His wings. We claim Psalm 91:1-2 that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, and that the Lord will preserve from all evil and will keep your going out and your coming in in Psalm 121:7-8.
We hear your honest confession about lustful thoughts and we commend you for bringing this struggle into the light, for this is a battle every believer must fight. Scripture is clear that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28. We are to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5. Lust is not harmless, it is sin that must be repented of and forsaken, and within your marriage the Lord has given a holy and pure context for intimacy. We encourage you to flee from temptation as taught in 2 Timothy 2:22, to guard your eyes and your mind, to fill your thoughts with whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is pure in Philippians 4:8, and to seek accountability and to stay in the Word and in prayer daily so the Spirit can strengthen you to walk in purity.
We want to lovingly point out that your prayer was addressed to Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved in Romans 10:9. We encourage you to always come in the name of Jesus, for in His name our prayers are heard.
We pray together now, Father in heaven we thank You for Your goodness and mercy that endures forever. We thank You for this brother, for his wife and for his loved one. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to grant him sweet and undisturbed rest, to lay Your healing hand upon his wife and cause this cyst to dissolve and to restore her to full health, to place a hedge of protection around his loved one and keep them from all harm and danger, and to cleanse his mind and heart from all lustful thoughts. Give him strength to flee temptation, to fix his eyes on You and to love his wife with purity and honor as Christ loves the church. Forgive us for our sins and create in us clean hearts. Help us to walk in holiness and to trust You in all things. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray without ceasing, to dwell in the Word, to cherish your wife and your marriage as a picture of Christ's covenant, and to trust that God hears and will answer according to His perfect will.
