We join with you in thanking our good and gracious Lord for His goodness toward us, for His mercies are new every morning and His steadfast love never ceases. We lift up each of your requests before the throne of grace together in Jesus name.
We pray first for good rest for you. The Lord knows our frame and that we need sleep. Psalm 127:2 says it is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. And Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. We ask the Lord to quiet your mind and body at night, to grant you deep and restorative sleep, and that you may lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make us dwell in safety as Psalm 4:8 teaches.
We also bring your dear wife before the Lord and ask for His healing touch upon the cyst and for her whole health. We thank God for the gift of marriage, that lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that He has ordained for our good and His glory, and we pray He will strengthen and sustain you both. We ask that if it be His will, He would cause this cyst to dissolve completely without need for further intervention, and that He would restore her to full health. Psalm 103:2-3 reminds us to Praise Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. We cling to His promise in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We pray for peace for her as she waits on the Lord and for wisdom for any doctors who care for her.
We also intercede for the loved one you mentioned for protection. The Lord knows this person by name even though the name was withheld for privacy. We ask for a hedge of protection around them, for the Lord to keep them from all evil and to guard their going out and coming in. Psalm 91:11 says For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways, and Psalm 121:7-8 says Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.
We also want to address with love and truth your request for help against lustful thoughts. This is a battle every believer faces, and God calls us to purity and holiness. Jesus taught in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. These thoughts, when entertained, are sin before God and can lead to fornication or adultery if acted upon, which are outside His will for marriage. We are called to flee from sexual immorality as 1 Corinthians 6:18 says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We encourage you to take every thought captive as 2 Corinthians 10:5 teaches, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and to make a covenant with your eyes as Job did, and to fill your mind with what is pure as Philippians 4:8 says, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things. We pray the Lord will give you strength to turn away quickly, to renew your mind in the Word daily, and to seek accountability if needed.
We noticed your prayer addressed the Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently encourage you about this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and can come boldly before God in prayer. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
We now pray together, Father in heaven, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy that endures forever. We thank You for the gift of sleep and we ask You to grant our brother good, peaceful, and uninterrupted rest each night. Lay Your healing hand upon his wife, we ask You to dissolve this cyst completely, to bring health and wholeness to her body, and to give them both peace and trust in Your care. We ask Your divine protection over the one he has lifted up to You, keep them safe from harm, from evil, and from the schemes of the enemy, and let them feel Your presence near. Lord, we ask You to cleanse his mind and heart from lustful thoughts, give him power by Your Holy Spirit to flee temptation, to take every thought captive to Christ, and to walk in purity and holiness before You and within his marriage covenant. Forgive us where we have sinned in thought, word, or deed, and create in us clean hearts. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our hope and our salvation. Amen.
