We join you in giving thanks to the Lord for His goodness, for every good and perfect gift comes from above and His steadfast love endures forever.
We lift up your need for good rest before the Father. He gives sleep to His beloved and we pray He will quiet your mind and body and grant you deep, restorative rest. It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones, Psalm 127:2.
We also bring your wife before the throne of grace for healing. We pray that the Lord, who is our healer, would cause this cyst to dissolve and restore her to full health according to His mercy and will. We ask Him to touch her body, to remove any fear or pain, and to strengthen her. Who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, Psalm 103:3. We hold to the promise that He will restore health to us and heal our wounds, Jeremiah 30:17, and we ask for His healing hand upon her now.
We pray for protection over your loved one whom you mentioned, that the Lord would be a shield around them, guarding them from harm and from the schemes of the enemy. We ask that the Lord who is faithful would guard you from the evil one, 2 Thess 3:3, and keep them in all their ways.
We want to lovingly and firmly address your struggle against lustful thoughts, for this is a battle that requires vigilance and repentance. Our Lord taught that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, Matthew 5:28. Even within the covenant of marriage, which God ordains as holy and honorable between a man and a woman, we are called to purity of heart and mind. Lust dishonors your marriage and grieves the Holy Spirit. We encourage you to flee sexual immorality as Scripture commands, 1 Cor 6:18, and to take every thought captive. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Cor 10:13. We counsel you to guard your eyes, to avoid sources of temptation, to fill your mind with what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report, Phil 4:8, and to walk in the Spirit so you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
We noticed your prayer was addressed to Dear Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and can boldly approach God in prayer. We encourage you to place your full trust in Him and to pray in His mighty name.
We pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for Your goodness and mercy that follow us all the days of our lives. We ask You to grant our brother peaceful and deep rest tonight, to calm his heart and renew his strength. We lay hands in prayer upon his wife and ask for Your healing power to dissolve this cyst completely, to make her whole and healthy for Your glory. We pray Your hand of protection over their loved one, keep them safe from all harm and danger, seen and unseen. Lord, we confess the struggle with lustful thoughts and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Purify his heart and mind, help him to flee temptation, to fix his eyes on You and to honor his marriage vows with complete faithfulness. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit that he may walk in holiness and self control. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
