We have heard your burden for this teacher who is in a position of authority over vulnerable children and we join with you in bringing her before the Lord, for what you describe grieves our hearts as it grieves His. To use a classroom to mock the Lord Jesus, and to lead other staff to join in, is a serious matter. Scripture warns us, Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap in Galatians 6:7, and Jesus Himself said in Matthew 12:36 that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. We also remember Exodus 20:7 that we shall not take the name of the Lord our God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. To make fun of Buddha is to mock a false way, but to make fun of Jesus is to mock the only living Savior, for Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and in Acts 4:12 we are told there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
We are also concerned about her delight in Harry Potter and her giving those books to children, including those she has adopted. While many see these stories as harmless fantasy, we know the Bible clearly instructs us to turn away from witchcraft and sorcery. In Deuteronomy 18:10-12 we read, There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And in Philippians 4:8 we are called to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely. We pray that her eyes would be opened to the spiritual influence she is inviting into the lives of these precious children, whom God loves dearly, for Jesus said to let the little children come to Him.
We pray together now for her and for that school.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our only mediator, for as 1 Timothy 2:5 says, there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. We lift up this teacher to You and ask for Your mercy upon her. Forgive her for mocking Your holy name and for leading others into that sin. Open her eyes to see that You are holy and to be reverenced, not ridiculed. We pray that You would bring conviction to her heart and to the other staff who joined in, that they would repent and turn to Jesus for salvation, for You are not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance as we read in 2 Peter 3:9. We ask that You protect the children in that school, especially those with disabilities who are so vulnerable and so precious in Your sight. Guard their hearts and minds from confusion and from any influence of darkness through what they are taught and what they are given to read. Raise up a faithful witness in that place.
We also pray for you who carried this burden to us. We ask that the Lord will give you boldness tempered with love, to stand for Christ in that environment. In Matthew 5:44 Jesus tells us to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, and in Ephesians 4:29 we are told, Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. We encourage you to continue to pray fervently for this woman, to live as a quiet and consistent example of reverence for Christ, and if the Lord opens the door, to speak to her privately with grace and truth about how her words affect others. You may also need to wisely document what is happening and, as the Lord leads, bring concerns through proper channels, for those in authority over children will give an account for how they steward that trust. Do not return mocking for mocking, but commit this to the Lord who judges righteously, and trust that He hears your intercession. We pray that He will use your prayers to bring salvation and transformation to that classroom, and that His name will be honored there instead of mocked, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
