Beloved of All
Please pray for my daughter she is having High School tryouts she wants to play varsity. She had a minor setback as she was injured in the summer and so she hasn’t had as much time as others to get into shape or improve her skills . There aren’t many spots on the varsity team.

We join with you in lifting up your daughter before the Lord as she prepares for these high school tryouts and desires to make the varsity team. We understand the disappointment of a summer injury and how discouraging it can feel to have had less time to prepare than others, especially when there are only a few spots available. We know the Lord sees her hard work, her desire, and even the anxiety that comes with competition, and we want to bring all of this to Him together.

We are encouraged by what Scripture tells us about where our strength and our hope come from. Isaiah 40:29-31 reminds us that He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might He increases strength, and those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. Colossians 3:23 teaches us that whatever we do, to work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, and 1 Corinthians 10:31 says that whatever we do, we should do all to the glory of God. This tryout is an opportunity for your daughter to give her best effort for His glory, trusting that her worth is not determined by a roster spot but by being fearfully and wonderfully made and loved by God, Psalm 139:14. We also take comfort in Proverbs 16:3 which says to commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed, and in Philippians 4:6-7 which calls us not to be anxious but to let our requests be made known to God, and His peace will guard our hearts.

We pray together for her now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus and lift up this young woman to You. We thank You for the gifts and abilities You have given her and for the desire You have placed in her heart to use them. We ask for Your healing touch upon her body from that summer injury, for renewed strength, endurance, and protection from further harm as she tries out. Grant her confidence and peace, calm her nerves, and help her to perform to the best of the ability You have given her. We pray for favor with her coaches and that the tryout process would be fair. Above all, we pray that Your will be done, whether that is a place on varsity or another placement where she can continue to grow, learn teamwork, and honor You. Help her and her family to trust that Your plans for her are good, for You say in Jeremiah 29:11, I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Help her to know that whether she makes varsity or not, she is deeply loved and valued by You. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We also want to gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share why that is so important to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 tells us there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If your daughter and your family have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, Romans 10:9. It is through Him that we have not only help in these daily trials like tryouts, but eternal hope.

We encourage you to continue to support your daughter by reminding her to do her best and leave the results in God's hands. Help her to see that diligence, good sportsmanship, and a gracious spirit whether she makes the team or not will be a testimony to others. We will keep praying that God will be glorified through her effort and that she will feel His peace and presence throughout this tryout season.

We are praying with you for your daughter in these tryouts. We can hear how much this matters to her, and to you as her parent watching her work so hard after that summer injury. It is tough to feel behind when others had more time to train, especially when varsity spots are limited.

We love her desire to keep showing up and doing her best even with the setback. That kind of faithfulness matters far beyond one team roster, and it is forming character in her that will serve her well whatever the outcome this week.

One thing that may help in these next few days is to keep the focus on what she can control. Encourage her to get good rest, stay in close communication with her coach and trainer about where her body is at, and if that summer injury still bothers her at all to be checked by her doctor or athletic trainer alongside prayer. Talking through both possibilities ahead of time, making varsity or needing another season to grow, can also take some pressure off and remind her your pride in her is not tied to the list.

Father, we lift this daughter to You and ask for Your peace over her as she tries out. Guard her body from further injury, steady her heart, and help her to do her best and trust You with the results. Give her parents wisdom to encourage her well in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have received your request concerning your ### and we have carried it before the Lord with you. To see a child labor under a setback, to have time lost through injury while others have pressed forward, and to face a narrow door where there are not many places, is a trial that naturally stirs a parent's heart.

Our Saviour says, Do not be anxious about these things. We are to be prudent and diligent, and your ### is to do what lies in her power with the strength God has given her, yet we have learned both by experience and observation that anxiety itself never comforted any soul nor ever brought any grist to the mill. Indeed the very fretfulness which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. To be anxious for her in a way that only turns inward and frets within ourselves will do her no good, but to carry the whole case to the Lord in prayer will.

What we desire for you and for her is that composure of mind which comes from faith, that freedom from fretfulness and that clean deliverance from alarm of which the Scripture speaks, so that whatever happens the heart keeps on at its own quiet pace, delighting itself in a faithful God. As Sarah by faith was not afraid with any amazement in her trial, so may you and your ### be kept in holy patience, whether in the strain of tryouts or in the waiting that follows. Let her do her best before the coaches and before the Lord, and let your prayers be that she may be kept from fear and may trust the Lord's hand in the outcome.

And if disappointment should come, whether in this small matter or in greater ones, let it be borne bravely and laid before the Lord. He is wiser than we are and His will must always prevail above ours. Disappointments, when sanctified, wean us from the world and teach us that our chief hope is not in making a team but in being found in Christ and being fitted for that fair country where hope shall reach its full fruition. The one who sows diligently and then trusts God with the harvest is never put to shame, even if the harvest is not as he first desired.

We pray now for her. Our Father, we thank Thee for this ### and for the health Thou hast in mercy restored to her after her injury. We ask Thee to strengthen her body, to guard her from further harm, to give her grace to strive with all diligence and with a cheerful spirit, and to grant to those who judge a clear and fair mind. Above all, give to her and to her parents a quiet trust in Thy good providence, that whether she is placed on the varsity or elsewhere, she may know that Thou orderest all things for good to them that love Thee. Keep her from anxious care and fill her with that peace which comes from looking to Christ alone for salvation and for every blessing. In the name of Jesus we ask it, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
