We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of faith, lifting up this matter of work leave to our Heavenly Father, who holds all authority in heaven and on earth. It is good and right to bring our requests before God, trusting in His sovereignty and perfect timing. We recognize that every good and perfect gift comes from above, and we ask for His will to be done in this situation.
First, we want to acknowledge the importance of honoring those in authority over us, as Scripture instructs: "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God" (Romans 13:1 WEB). We pray for this department head, that God would grant them wisdom, discernment, and a spirit of compassion as they consider this leave request. May the Lord soften their heart and align their decisions with His purposes, whether that includes approval or another path that He has ordained.
We also lift up the desire to spend time with loved ones, particularly RMP. The Bible encourages us to value family and relationships, as it says: "But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever" (1 Timothy 5:8 WEB). However, we must also remember that our ultimate trust must be in God’s provision, not in the approval of man. If this leave is granted, we rejoice in God’s goodness. If it is not, we trust that He has a reason and will provide another opportunity or means to fulfill His purposes.
We rebuke any spirit of anxiety or impatience that may be present in this waiting period. The Word of God reminds us: "Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB). Let us rest in the knowledge that God is in control, and His plans for us are for good and not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11).
Heavenly Father, we come before You now, lifting up this leave request. We ask that You would go before this department head, preparing their heart to respond in a way that aligns with Your will. If it is Your desire for this leave to be approved, we ask that You would remove every obstacle and open the doors that no man can shut. Grant favor and understanding where there may be hesitation or conflict. If this request is not in line with Your perfect plan, give wisdom and peace to accept Your will, trusting that You are working all things together for good.
We pray for patience and faith during this time of waiting. Help us to cast all our cares upon You, knowing that You care for us (1 Peter 5:7). Fill our hearts with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and remind us that Your timing is always perfect. Whether this leave is granted or not, we choose to trust in You, believing that You are our provider and sustainer.
Lord, we also ask that You would bless this department head and all those in authority over this matter. Give them wisdom to lead with integrity and compassion. May their decisions reflect Your justice and mercy, and may they come to know You as their Lord and Savior if they do not already.
We commit this request into Your hands, knowing that You hear us and that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
